Why not give it more power?

Discussion in '2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR' started by atvman, Jan 6, 2008.

  1. With the new ZR1 coming with a rumored 620 hp, the Viper is going to need a power increase to match it. An ACR with 625 to 630 hp would be the answer due to it's weight being comparable to the rmored weight of the ZR1.

  2. The ZR1 will have its hands full trying to beat the ACR on a track. They weigh about the same, but the Viper produces more downforce, has grippier tires, and probably better brakes. Even though the ZR1 is using parts of the Enzo's brakes, the 03 Viper on runflat tires could stop as well as the Enzo. The Viper should have gotten a bigger weight reduction though.

  10. read Top Gear! The Viper is lighter and more aerodynamic and sure to beat the ZR1 on the track AND the market!

  11. 600bhp is enough-the Dodge NASCAR team tested the car in the aero tunnel

  12. Not to come across uninformed or anything and I'm not questioning your judgment or your comment but when did that test happen anyways? Is the Top Speed in fact 207 or 208 mph?

  13. SWEET, DUDE I'm looking to tests and comparisons being to both'em!!!

  14. Ian, the top speed is about 180. The car is meant for road courses, and the aero changes were significant enough to greatly reduce top speed. The handling gains are well worth it though.

  15. because with 600 hp, it's the fastest street legal car being produced.

  16. I want 1800 horse power!

  17. Thanks I thought so just had to make completely sure about the top end, thank you man.

Especially with its lap time around Nordschliefe of a 7:22.10sec. time, the ONLY vehicles ahead of it are the Gumpert Apollo Sport, Radical SR8 and SR8LM here's there times:

    Radical SR8: 6:55.00sec.
    Radical SR8LM: 6:48.00sec.
    Gumpert Apollo Sport: 7:11.50sec.

So not too shabby for a once-upon-a-time squirrlly and uncontrollable machine, but not anymore fellas!
