Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee yeah, i dont understand the rivalry. they both make similar cars, its all a matter of which u prefer. to sit there and blindly say "chevy sucks" because u drive a ford is retarded. each car is respectable in its own right. different cars are meant to serve different purposes. all cars are wonderful. not all cars are sports cars.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee I'd rather have a V8 Camaro.....any year would toast this thing.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee ok people i am not a huge ford fan and i am not a huge chevy fan but remember what year it is 2003??? the camero is DEAD and gone unfortionatly i dont know how chevy could do that to such a nameplate as the camero but it is now apparent that the mustang rules.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee Time to get started I guess. I've got a lot of quotes to refute. OK, for starters, speculation is not alowed when talking performance numbers. O.K. I'll give you some real specs for this engine in a heavier car than the SVO. 1/4 mile - 16.3 seconds @ 84.5 mph 60 mph to 0 mph stopping distance - 138 ft. 0.82 lateral g (take another look, and remember, 1987) 700 ft slalom speed average = 61.2 mph 0-30 mph in 2.5 sec, 0-50 mph in 5.9 sec, 0-60 mph in 8.5 sec, 0-70 mph in 11.7 sec, 0-80 mph in 14.5 sec 0-100 ft in 3.2 sec, 0-500 ft in 8.8 sec, 0-1320 ft in 16.3 sec firm suspension settings kick in (in ~40ms) with 0.3g or more cornering or braking, when throttle is floored, when boost exceeds 10 psi, or when speed exceeds 80 mph weight = 3415 lbs (3419 lbs with AOD trans) 5 passenger capacity 0.36 Cd drag coefficient This is with the Turbo Coupe, and with an 8 valve SOHC. Better than most 16V DOHC engines of like displacement. find me a Mopar from 1987 that deserves more respect. What? A Shelby daytona? K cars impress me none, and do NOT compete. Oh, and I've seen these engines pull 9's in the quarter. MM&FF did a 2.3t shootout about two months back. Take a look at some real info on 2.3t tunability.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee see above. And it did the Camaro in during Motor Trends comparo.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee Yeah, don't talk about mustangs on a mustang page. I mean come on. (can you smell the sarcasm?)
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee This engine was designed by the Germans for the Capri. Ouch, bet that hurt.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee Agreed. I drive a ford and a chev, so no bias here. This guy was an idiot.
Re: yeah baby mustangs kick stupid chevs arse any day of the wee Whoever says Ford or Chevy sucks, because you like the other company better is an idiot!! Just because you like chevy better than Ford doesn't mean Ford sucks and visa versa.
All those who called the SVO "one of the worst handling cars ever really need to do some research. The SVO is considered by many to be the second best handling Mustang ever - second only to the 2000 Cobra R. .93 G's on the skidpad people. The performance data on the article is flawed - firstly it mixes specifications of several different model year SVOs and uses the performance data from an early 84 (called an 83 here but sold as an 84 model year) which had slapper-bars in the rear as opposed to the standard SVO quad shocks along with goodyear nct tires - vastly inferior to the later 84 goodyear gatorbacks. The cover of the october 83 Road and track (testing one of the inferior early 84 model cars) claims superior handeling to the Ferrari 308. Learn to read and know what you're talking about.
I just have to wonder...what on earth is it that makes you think that the Fox era was bad for Mustangs? Last I checked drag racers have a tendency to lean towards the Fox's. A majority of them, anyways. They were light weight cars with a 302cid V-8 in 'em. Before you go bashing their handling abilities, take a look at the SVO which is the main topic of this discussion. svokempton was right when he said that this car is considered to be one of the best handling Mustangs ever. SVO and SVT both strive on track performance (which includes handling), not just quarter-mile times. The 80's and early 90's will probably always be my favorite era for Mustangs. I dunno about any of these other Mustang fans in here, but I'd kill for a '93 SVT Cobra.
WOT A PIECE OF #$%#ING SHIT, JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT AMERICANS CANT MAKE GOOD CARS, OR EVEN SHIT ONE, THAY MAKE SUPER SHIT CARS.
