2001 Audi Avantissimo Concept

The Avantismmo serves as a high performance Avant with luxury style class. Aluminum was used extensively in this car’s design offering a great power to wieght ratio. The body and suspension components are all crafted from lightweight alumunim. The body is affixed to an Audi Space Frame (ASF) which optimizes weight and torsonal rigidity.

Under the hood is a 4.2 litre biturbo engine that has demonstrated its sucess in the Audi R8. This engine is mated to a new Audi 6-Speed Auto with paddle shift operation.

The Avantissmo sports an all new air suspention. This system continually controls damping to enable a good balance between ride comfort & handling. The suspension has three settings: Automatic, Sport & Comfort.

Large sections of the roof consist of large glass sections. There are photo-voltaic elements in the roof that supply sufficient solor energy to operate the ventilation systems blowers during hot weather.

The interior sports an individual driver identification system. Once a driver has been identified, the seat position, temperature settings, tv, dvd, navigation & internet settings all adapt to suit the driver. The identification process is done through a computer chip within the key.
