CGT is the king badass of all badasses on the ring

  3. Nurburgring Track Times

Why are there so many CGT times?

  4. Nurburgring Track Times

The M3 CSL's time looks pretty impressive.

  5. Nurburgring Track Times

Tested a few times on different days, different track conditions and ddifferent drivers, shows the real potential of that car.

  6. Nurburgring Track Times

    it's not impossible...
Evo VIII is faster and much better handling than Evo VII due to Super-AYC and 6 sp man....
And Evo VIII MR is also much faster and better than Evo VIII for lighter weight and better suspension....

Don't forget when Evo VII was being introduced it came with a all new chassis....
And then when Evo VIII came out the chassis has been improved.

  7. Nurburgring Track Times

    M3 GTR beat the CGT??!!!!!
    M3 GTR: 7:06
    CGT: 7:28

and have they tested the enzo on the ring yet?

  8. Nurburgring Track Times

No prob, the M3 GTR is a race car fitted with race tyres, the CGT a road car wth road tyres and more weight!

  9. Nurburgring Track Times

    still no S7

  10. Nurburgring Track Times

I thought the C5 ZO6 was supposed to be better than the C6.

    Nurburgring Track Times

    From dailysportscar.net:

    Barbosa & The ‘Ring
While Martin Short was sunning himself (on his honeymoon) in the Caribbean at the end of last month, Joao Barbosa was busy driving a Mosler Photon, round the Nurburgring.

“The track was damp in places, and he had to slow down at one point because of road works (!), but he still set a 7:42 – despite a couple of handling niggles that we’ve sorted out now,” explains Shorty.

The Photon is the developed MT900S road car, with an upgrade to the Hewland transmission, carbon seats, thinwall subframes, BBS magnesium wheels, titanium springs and carbon fibre bodywork.

“We’re going back on Monday and Tuesday of next week, to try again,” says Martin Short.

The 'record' for a road car is Wolfgang Kaufmann’s 7:32.52. What were you driving Wolfgang? A Carrera GT?

Phil Bennett has lapped the track in a 7:19 in a road legal Radical (in 2003), while recently a Donkervoort apparently lapped in a 7:18.

If it’s dry at the ‘Ring next week, expect some fireworks. Barbosa was still learning the circuit last month.... while Phil Bennett responds (on the www.pistonheads.com forum) with "if I can get Radical to provide the car I'll re-claim the record at the forthcoming RMA days (next week), weather and God willing."

So a Mosler MT900S Photon on its initial outing at the Nordschleife sets a 7:42....

The NSX does much faster than the stupid 8:09 you have. It breaks 8 in the video you posted. And don't say oh the video is fake and they cheated because they didn't.

  15. Nurburgring Track Times

The 8:09 was achived in the sport Auto Supertest by Horst von Saurma, before only a 8:33.80 was reported by the Top Gear magazine oct 1997.

Note that Tope Gear solicited two professional drivers to test the cars above and each car's best times are shown. This, like all tests, are very driver-dependent. Someone who's not familiar with a particular car, just isn't going to be as fast in it. As an example, the other driver of the NSX recorded a time of 8m 57.13... but this included a full 360 degree spin where the driver was quoted as saying he never had to take it out of second gear!

  16. Nurburgring Track Times

I heard in the faster NSX-R lap they skipped counting the initial long stretch.

  17. Nurburgring Track Times

Yup. The video clearly shows the omission of the front straight, and a point to point lap of more than 8 minutes.

    Thansk for all the input!

IŽm currentlyx working on an update of that list including the av. speed, achievement and weight of each car as far as it is available.

Just tried to split it so that in each group the alpt times can be compared to each other mmuch better.

    You're such a stats-fanatic <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A> good to know I'm not the only one.

  24. Nurburgring Track Times

Really interesting to see how the times came down ower the years, how competitive a roiad car versus a Touring car, Group C race car or Formula 1 car is!
