24 Hours Of LeMans Latest Race To Be Postponed

With many races being postponed or outright cancelled, the 24 Hours of LeMans has also been affected by the global coronavirus pandemic.

From a press release on the FIA World Endurance Championship official page, the world famous race has been pushed back from its traditional June timeframe to September 19 and 20, 2020.

This postponement will obviously affect the entirely of LeMans style competition. The European LeMans Series, Ligier European Cup, Michelin LeMans Cup, and the FIA WEC itself will have to revise their calendars around the new timeframe.

This affects us fans of supercars and hypercars, as the 24 Hours of LeMans is one of the events where we can see the racing versions of our favorite cars competing. Porsche RSR‘s, Ferrari 488 GTE‘s, and Audi R8 LMS Ultra‘s all racing door to door, wheel to wheel.

As it stands right now, the first race of the re-scheduled 2020 FIA WEC season is the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on August 15th, 2020.

However, the FIA has stated that all of their championships, including Formula 1, the World Rally Championship, the WEC, and all other associated series, are currently in a “very fluid” state regarding dates.
