Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

Bugatti Announces The New Chiron Pur Sport

Originally called the Chiron R, which is now apparent as only being a code name, the new 2021 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is the latest special edition Chiron to grace the roads of the world.

While the Chiron base model, like the Veyron before it, was meant to be an engineering powerhouse, the Chiron Pur Sport takes that to another level.

Still a hypercar, the Pur Sport has added a fixed rear wing, underbody venturi ground effects, a large diffuser, an extended front splitter, enlarged front air intakes, and dynamic intake and exhaust vents for the wheels.

What this boils down to is a reduction in car weight, but a massive increase in downforce.

As well,  a new suspension and chassis setup dominates the car, keeping it low and fast. Adaptive and active camber across driving modes allow the wheels to take up to a negative 2.5 degrees camber angle with carbon fiber stabilizers to keep contact with the road during extreme cornering.

Magnesium wheels with aero blades increase brake cooling. Titanium calipers and carbon ceramic discs also disperse heat faster and strike off 2 KG of vehicle weight.

With the modified suspension and lighter parts, the Pur Sport is 130% firmer at the front and 77% firmer in the rear over a base Chiron, allowing it to be agile and corner aggressively.

A new Sport Plus drive mode also sets the car up for track days, allowing the driver maximum feel through the wheel as the assist systems step back. It allows for a more visceral experience, and traction control and other assists will only kick in if the car senses an impending loss of control.

A new transmission moves the gear ratios 15% closer together for blistering acceleration and more gear shifts, while also being able to hand the 1,500 HP and 1,180 lbs-ft of torque the quad turbo, 8.0L W16 engine rumbles out. As well, the redline has been moved to 6,900 via lighter engine internals and bigger radiators at the front air intakes.

The Chiron Pur Sport is the ultimate track and handling expression from Bugatti. Prices start at 3 million Euros ($3.35 million), excluding any taxes.

Production will be limited to only 60 units.
