Mecum Auctions will offer a 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera โ the last car special-ordered by actor Steve McQueen โ at its Monterey sale next month, August 13-15 at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to McQueenโs alma mater, the reform school Boys Republic.
The matching-numbers four-speed car came equipped with the rare early production non-intercooled 3.0-liter engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection capable of producing 234-hp at 5,500 rpm, and was special ordered from Bob Smith Porsche in Hollywood. McQueen specified that the car be delivered in Slate Gray paint with a sunroof, dual mirrors, limited-slip differential and black sport seats. McQueen wasnโt the carโs only notable owner, however, as it was subsequently owned by movie producer and writer Floyd Mutrux, as well as singer Dean Martinโs son, actor Dean Paul Martin.
The car comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, extensive service records, the original ownerโs manual, original tools and original sales brochures. To view the complete description of McQueenโs Last Special-Order Porsche, please visit Mecum.com.
