Affable and friendly are two words often used to describe Harry Heuer, but on the track he was a fierce competitor for the six years he was active in semi-pro and professional racing—especially with the Meister Brauser team of which he was the organizing power from 1959 to 1964. He raced a variety of racecars ranging from the Bocar of Bob Carnes, the Scarab #003, the Chaparral I, a Lola T70 to a Formula Vee. John R. Wright spoke with him recently from Heuer’s home in Casper, Wyoming.
Is it true you weren’t initially interested in motorsport until you were sort of coerced into it, bribed with pizza by a colleague?
