Ultra-Rare 2018 RUF CTR3 Clubsport Crosses the Auction Block

One of only seven RUF CTR3 Clubsport models built

This 2018 RUF CTR3 Clubsport is set to cross the block at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction on 15 August, carrying an estimated value of $1.7 million to $1.9 million. As one of the rarest modern RUF creations, this example combines cutting-edge engineering with exceptional provenance, making it one of the standout collector cars of the sale.

Unlike many of RUF’s earlier models that evolved from Porsche platforms, the CTR3 was the marque’s first vehicle designed largely from the ground up. Developed alongside Canadian engineering specialist Multimatic, it features a lightweight aluminum spaceframe chassis wrapped in Kevlar-carbon composite bodywork. The rear-mid-engine layout, longer wheelbase, and supercar-inspired proportions deliver a balance of stability, agility, and everyday usability that sets it apart from conventional rear-engine sports cars.

The Clubsport specification, introduced to elevate the CTR3’s already formidable performance, incorporates additional carbon-fiber components, including lightweight exterior panels, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a prominent fixed rear wing for increased aerodynamic efficiency. Power comes from a twin-KKK-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six producing up to 766 horsepower, enabling a claimed 0–60 mph sprint in just three seconds and a 236 mph top speed.

Chassis 6022 is particularly significant within the model’s limited production. Displayed by RUF at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, it is one of only 30 CTR3s produced and one of just seven Clubsport variants. It is also reported to be among the earliest examples equipped with a paddle-shift PDK transmission, replacing the sequential gearbox found in earlier cars and providing quicker, smoother shifts inspired by the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Presented in striking Oak Green Metallic, the exterior is complemented by extensive exposed carbon fiber and the signature of RUF founder Alois Ruf. Inside, quilted black leather is paired with distinctive green tartan fabric, while race-inspired instrumentation features green-numbered gauges and a center-mounted tachometer rotated for improved visibility during spirited driving.

With only 1,013 miles recorded at cataloging, the car has been carefully maintained, including a replacement suspension lift control unit supplied by RUF in 2022 and a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires installed in 2023. Accompanied by its RUF certificate of origin, service documentation, and original promotional brochure, this exceptionally rare CTR3 Clubsport represents a landmark achievement in RUF engineering and an outstanding acquisition for collectors seeking one of the brand’s most exclusive modern supercars.
