Now listed on Bring a Trailer, this 2022 Ford GT ’64 Heritage Edition represents one of the most technologically advanced interpretations of Ford’s Le Mans legacy. Ford unveiled the second-generation GT at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, exactly 50 years after the GT40’s first Le Mans victory. Rather than simply reviving the nameplate, Ford developed a technologically sophisticated mid-engine supercar built around carbon fiber, advanced aerodynamics, and race-derived suspension engineering.
At its center is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 derived from Ford’s F-150 engine architecture but extensively reworked with an aluminum intake manifold, specialized camshafts, turbos, and a bespoke dry-sump lubrication system. For 2020, the engine received gallery-cooled pistons and high-energy ignition coils, increasing factory-rated output to 660 horsepower while retaining 550 lb-ft of torque and broadening the usable torque curve. Power reaches the rear wheels through a Getrag 7DCL750 seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle.
The GT’s carbon-fiber monocoque is secured to lightweight aluminum front and rear subframes, while every exterior body panel is constructed from carbon fiber. Carefully shaped aerodynamic channels manage airflow around the engine and brakes, while the hydraulically adjustable pushrod suspension works with an active rear wing to vary ride height and downforce according to the selected driving mode. A front-axle lift system and launch control are also standard. Performance is reportedly sufficient for 0–60 mph in approximately three seconds, a 10.8-second standing quarter-mile, and a 216-mph top speed.
This particular GT is a 1,600-mile ’64 Heritage Edition commissioned by its current owner, a former Ford employee, and originally delivered through Pat Milliken Ford in Michigan. Its Wimbledon White exterior replicates the livery of Ford’s 1964 GT prototypes, accented by Antimatter Blue 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels, silver brake calipers, and a gloss carbon-fiber package.
Titanium lug nuts, six-point harness anchors, an Akrapovič titanium exhaust, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires further distinguish the specification. Braking comes from Brembo six-piston monobloc calipers and 15.5-inch carbon-ceramic front rotors, with four-piston calipers and 14.1-inch discs at the rear.
Inside, Light Speed Blue Alcantara, Sparco carbon-fiber seats, exposed carbon-fiber door panels, and a multifunction steering wheel reinforce the GT’s competition-inspired character. The fixed driver’s seat works with an adjustable pedal box and steering column, while a configurable digital instrument display shows just 1,600 miles.
