Audi has the R8 LMS GT2 Racer Ready for Christmas

The Ultimate High-Speed Present

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, Audi revealed the R8 LMS GT2 Racer. The race car is now available, and Audi will begin making deliveries of the vehicle. The car is the most powerful that Audi Sport customer racing has ever put out. The R8 LMS GT2 gets a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 churning out 630 hp. That should be more than enough to make the car one of the quicker out there.

“With the Audi R8 LMS GT2 we’re opening up a new chapter in our history,” head of Audi Sport customer racing Chris Reinke said. “Starting in 2020, the GT2 class will enhance the world of GT racing by another valuable new category that immediately got a foothold on three continents. In addition, the race car is ideally suited for track days.”

The car has plenty of aerodynamic elements that make it race-ready, including a massive rear wing, a large front splitter, huge rear diffuser, and a big roof scoop that feeds air to the V10 engine. The car is designed to compete in the GT2 Sports Club America, GT2 Sports Cup Europe, and GT2 Sports Club Asia championships. The car will run interested parties $398,000, and it’ll be assembled by the same team that puts together the Audi R8 road cars.
