Lexus Will Enter the 2020 24 Hours of Nürburgring with an LC Coupe

It Will Get a Twin-Turbo V8

The 2020 24 Hours of Nürburgring just got a bit more interesting. Lexus will bring a Lexus LC Coupe that Gazoo Racing will field at the race. According to Motor Authority, this will be the third year for the company to race in the event. Previously, the team raced an LC Coupe, too. So, what’s the big deal about this year, then? Well, the car has new tech and a new engine.

The previous LC Coupe that was raced at the event featured the typical 5.0-liter V8 that is in the car. It’s a lovely engine that’ we’ve had firsthand experience of. Now, however, Lexus will change what engine the racing model gets. Not all of the information has been confirmed, but it sounds like Lexus will stick a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood of the car. This should bring over 600 hp.

The race isn’t until May of 2020, so there’s plenty of time for Gazoo Racing and Lexus to get the vehicle right and really go after the race full-bore. We assume more information will be released at a later date. Until then, though, we’re going to think about just how cool this vehicle will be.
