    You know, make her a convertable with a bolt-on hard top, maybe put in a small supercharger or turbo (to make up for that monster engine) and spray her midnight black (extra glossy), and that thing would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.... Then again, leave her the way she is, and I'd still glady take one for around-towning. Can't beat the classics.

  6. Re: 175 HP!!!!!!!!!!

    yea.... why have a classic car when u can ruin its heritage by adding a TURBO...<!-- Signature -->

    Not saying its bad as-is, just saying I'm not against boost.

  8. Re: 175 HP!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Re: 175 HP!!!!!!!!!!

    *ahem* Retracting my forced induction comment... My question is, do you think in 34 the mechanics for these things said to themselves "Can we make it faster?" These are the things that I wonder about...

    c'mon its a 7.7l V12 for Fuk's sake, i think this SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE MORE HP THAN 175!! don't you think so too?<!-- Signature -->

    Of course they wondered if they could make these things faster, no different from today. This car, however, would be akin to trying to tune a Rolls Royce, not too many people did it. Some companies did always have a thrist for extreme power, like Duesenberg. In 1928, Duesenberg brought out a car with 265 hp, far more than anything else on the road. In 1932, they decided that only 265 was tii little, so they put a blower on the car, bringing the total count to 320. In 1934, a new intake was installed (called a horn intake, or basically ram air), which brought the count to 400 hp. By 1937, when Duesenberg went broke, there were reports of SJ pushing more than 450 hp, when most cars had less then 150. Bentley also did this, why do you think a blower was put on the 4 1/2?

    could have had more hp, even back then, but still it would have been very smooth and fairly quick... would still be a badass pimp car today <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

    Did you care to take a peak at those numbers.."1934"..

    That's the year this car was produced in; before high compression, and before the refined fuels we put into our cars today..

    So if you can't realize that cars didn't always get ~65-100hp/L, then you should just shut the #$%# up, alright?

    And to the other guy talking about "suping" this car up..if you wanted to do that, you wouldn't do it to a mint example like the one in the photo..

    if you wanted to make a fast car for way less money, you'd haul a 350 out of some old chev, get a driveshaft made, uprate your suspension and brakes, and see how it goes from there..

    of course, I'd never do that if I owned a Packard..although I did see a television show featuring a nice Packard with modern electronics, revised interiour, and I think the guy had dropped in a fairly new Oldsmobile V8<!-- Signature -->

    man this is a beauty. what it may lack in power it more than makes up for in style, something i dont see any honda civics having in the forseeable future...besides, 175hp was a decent output in '34.

    Stupid post, but what's even worse...he'd probably DO it! Lucky for the car it's safe from the likes of him...
