1st place

  1. With Andy Wallace behind the wheel, the MT900 placed first in the GTS class in The Rolex 24 at Daytona. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

Lets not forget Jerome Palicand, Michel Neugartan, and Joao Barbosa, and the rest of the Perspective team!!

Congrats to Rollcentre too, picking up 3rd, and 4th in GTS!!

That was quite the race I watched hours 2-7 off and on, and got up in time to catch the last 3 hours.

Had to love the crash in hour 6 between the Porsche GT3 and the Daytona Prototype (can't remember which offhand). The last hour and 20 minutes were by far the best though, when the GTS leading Corvette hit a slight snag and Andy Wallace was left to make up those 12 laps between him and the Vette. I don't know whether he would have been able to had the Vette been able to shift out of third gear though (it did eventually get up 4th, but couldn't downshift. )

The most impressive part, however, was the strength of the GT class. Porsche GT3 finishing 1st followed by a 360gt and another GT3? Surprised me to say the least.

I can't remember off hand... When is Lemans? is it soon?

  5. Re: 1st place

    Lemans is in June.

    Sebring is in March.

  6. Re: 1st place

i was at that race, it was awsome just like the last 2 years. this car isn't that fast compared to the other GTS cars there, however, i guess it was the most reliable. nice car, nice sound, and sweet lookin.

and this hp rating is off. its really over 420. this site has lots of screw ups. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>

Actually they are surprisingly accurate for this car. The newer "Photon" models, however, are running the LS6 (as opposed to the LS1 in the pictured prototype) in stock form pushing 435hp. They also weigh a good 600lbs less than the tested prototype that achieved the times you see on this site.

  9. Re: 1st place

One other thing about the race....the Perspective car that won GTS also spent 62 minutes behind the wall repairing a gearbox problem. This put htem in 20 something place overall, so they had to charge hard thru the nite.

    I can't wait for Homestead!

  10. Re: 1st place

Homestead should be great. March 1st unless I'm mistaken? Either way I'll have to watch as much as I can<A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

Too bad I live thousands of miles away ( <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/sad.gif"></A> ). I'd love to be able to see it live, as I've never been to a race like this in my life (it's quite pitiful, really).

  13. Re: 1st place

Thats the nice thing about living her ein Florida, Daytona, Homestead, and Sebring are all less than 2.5 hours away. And for the rest, there is Speed Channel <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  14. Re: 1st place

I've driven to Florida before... and I have to say I'll never do it again. It took about 36 hours, and no race could ever be worth the lack of sleep I had to suffer. Florida is a VERY nice place though. Maybe one year I'll have to fly down to see one of the races. Untill then I'll be watching them on Speed Channel too (now if only they'd stop playing so much NASCAR).
