  2. What about the Corse Motorsports Ferrari F430 GT?

  3. See LMP1.

  4. What's the chances of Peugeot showing up? Last I heard they were really looking hard at coming to the last 2 races.

  5. Rumors are that they want to come over for them, Petit especially to compete in the "Green Chalenge"

  6. Any extra info on Corsa's P1 story?!

  7. Whoa! I passed right over the Corse Zytek entry! So I guess they decided to abandon GT2?

BTW, what's the story with the Creation "AIM" engines? I'm not too familiar with AIM, and now your entry list shows the Creations using Judd V10's again.

  8. Program hasn't been officially announced yet, but rumor has it, while over at Le Mans they were presented with an opportunity to run a P1 Zytek and they've decided to take it. I wouldn't call it abandoning GT2 as much as joining P1.

  9. Murphy the Bear seems to think there could be a huge migration of European teams to America in October. He thinks Peugeot absolutely will be there, possibly with 2 cars (an announcement should come this week). He thinks the V12 Aston Martin engined LMP1 Lola Coupe might make the trek, as well as at least another Aston or 2 (Murphy describes it as "a plethora of Astons, beyond the two in the ALMS now"), so perhaps Team Modena, Strakka Racing, or James Watts Automotive in GT2???. The Corsa Zytek is absolutely a GO! Another possible suprise would be the Embassy WF01s from England. Great looking LMP2. Perhaps looking to entice car sales, perhaps wanting to take on the Green Challenge.

Should all of the planets align, we could potentially be talking not about 40, but 50 cars!!!

  10. Apparently Peugeot confirmed they'd have 2 cars at Petit, no word on Laguna Seca yet though.

  11. That would be AWESOME!!!....but I highly doubt we'll see every one of those cars on the grid. Speculation turns into disappointment all too often.

But I still hope its true! This will be my 5th trip to Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans so I'll be paying a LOT of attention to updates.

  12. Yea, I'm sure they won't all show up, but 40+ cars is almost a given at this point. Has the potential to be the best ALMS race in several years!

  13. You know, all this gives me the feeling a world LMS could be on the verge. I mean if you took say Sebring, Road America, Petit LM, and Monterey, added with the European races and Le Mans, you would have a good world class series right there with 10 races.

  14. True, but I don't think many of the smaller teams would be able to fit the bill. It'd just be the manufacturers that would potentially like that idea. And I, as a fan don't like the idea of giving up quite a few ALMS races.

And your feeling is really just a feeling. Expect the ALMS calendar to expand to 13 or 14 races next year!

  15. Yeah, I could see the ALMS still sticking around. What I am thinking is keeping the American series the same but the bigger teams could do the fly aways. I don't think I would do it all in one shot overnight, but the sport is finally expanding to the point where it is a possibility.

  16. I honestly don't even think the big teams would want to deal with it. A few teams are coming over here for PLM mainly due to winning the race gets you a Le Mans entry and it's also the start of the ALMS' Green Challenge.

But in all seriousness, I don't think it would work. American teams with American sponsors wouldn't want to pay to do races in Europe and vise versa. It's the reason so many teams have plans to come to Petit Le Mans, but very few ever actually do...

  17. How come the ideas surrounding an "Asian Le Mans Series" always fizzle out? There was supposed to be a series starting back in 2001 (but that went nowhere), then there was the Japanese Le Mans Challenge (which has, like, 10 cars on the grid...and HALF of them don't meet the ACO regulations), and the proposed LMS Shanghai race was cancelled too.

Super GT seems to be the only sportscar series thats hanging on over there (with mostly Japanese makes).

  18. If I had to pick about half of the "maybes" then these would be my favorite "guest" entries for the PLM:

    Team Peugeot Total - Peugeot 908/Diesel (2)
Charouz Racing Systems - Lola B08-60/Aston Martin
    ECO Racing - Radical SR10/AER Bio-Diesel
    Binnie Motorsports - Lola B05-40/Zytek
Horag Racing - Porsche RS Spyder Evo.
    ??? - Saleen S7R
Team Modena - Aston Martin DBR9
JMB Racing - Ferrari F430 GT

I bet Aston Martin Racing won't be there (or the new Rahal-Letterman BMW M3).

  19. The BMW will debut at Sebring. I just forgot to take it off the list.

I think AMR will be there, it's just in what form? The LMP1 Lola is basically a factory program now, and there could be a chance they bring a Vantage over for development.

  20. Needs more cars/drivers for the GT1 class.

  21. Dave Richards has said there's no chance of seeing the factory DBR9s here for Petit, but that the V8 Vantage is under ongoing development, so I'd take that to mean the factory is going to run another V8 Vantage for the final 2 ALMS races.

  23. I'll keep saying it, get rid of GT1

  24. Did LG find sponsorship to run at Petit?

  25. It's been their goal for the 2nd half of the year. I think if LG isn't, Riley's said they'll run the car themselves. So one way or another, that car should be there. Perhaps you can shed some light for us???
