Just got a growler of my first Kane beer. Pretty excited about it. It came with a rad Kane glass, too!
I need my Swagger back. A couple years ago i was an Alpha. I used to pump iron, go skydiving, go to a range, going to Vegas etc. Basically i was an Alpha Male. I still was lonely but doing these things made me feel macho and not depressed. Then i stopped doing these things. And in doing so i lost my swagger. Now i walk like a defeated man. A wise man once said, show your adversaries that you're strong even if you're not. Now i am on a quest to be once again an Alpha Male, walking fast with arms out, being rude or obnoxious.

About to start day 9 of heavy drinking. Heading to the annual barleywine festival at Toronado momentarily. Beer Week rules. EDIT: Some current highlights from the week include a few different sour saisons from Sante Adairius, checking out a new sour producer nearby called The Rare Barrel, and drinking both Firestone Walker 17 and Prairie Double Chocolate Bomb! on tap. Bigelow, you need to get in on this next year.
I had one too recently and it's surprisingly good. Had Jessenhofke Reserva yesterday, still one of my favourites.
Ugh, so jelly. Hopefully I'll be done with my PhD and have a more fixed schedule so this kind of thing will be easier.
How funky are those sours? Love sours in general, but I dont like some dirty french dudes foot in my mouth.
None of those beers were anywhere close to as funky as the average bottle from Drie Fonteinen or Cantillon. If you like sour more than funk, American producers are probably more your speed. In other news, I was able to try all 58 barleywines on tap for the festival at Toronado over the weekend. A friend and I agreed on the following top 5 (no particular order): Firestone Walker Sucaba 2014 Lost Abbey Angel's Share Grand Cru Magnolia Old Thunderpussy (this was the best non barrel-aged offering) Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine JW Lees Harvest Ale 25th Anniversary (also available aged in Lagavulin casks, which was peaty as all hell and mega tasty)
Drinking my last can of CCB Hopped on the High Seas with Citra. Sad day. This was one of my best beers I've ever had.
Here's a few pictures of my latests beerscapades. 1. Never done did this with a tallboy before! 2. Opened a Lune at my dad's 70th. My mom had gone to a beer/food pairing with a friend of hers, and they'd introduced her to Krieks by Lindemann's, so I figured I'd bust open a slightly better one. It was an '10 and it was #$%#ing FANTASTIC. Tons of jammy fruit, funk, and crazy tart yet somehow not over the top. And just look at it! 3. Got me summa dem new Almanacs. I liked Bourbon Sour Porter, so I figured I'd invest in these. Got two of all, save the sourdough one. I heard that one is pretty groes, but I like sourdough, so I figured I'd give it a shot. 4. Bottleworks XV release party was today! It was totally different from last year. Last year there was a line around the block by 11 AM. This year I roll up at 11:05, and walk right in. There were like 12 people there, and no line. Got me a pour of the new XV, which is delicious. It's mostly a quad aged in tequila barrels, though it's a mix of stuff. Then I had BW XII.1, which is still fantastic. TONS of fruit still there, and drier and tarter than I remember it from last year. Snagged these bottels on the way out.
