BMW, True German Engineering

I find 333HP out of 2.5 litres equally amazing. I think a lot of car manufacturers (*cough* nissan, etc. *cough*) need to take a leaf out of BMW's book and try some real engineering, instead of just whacking a turbo under the hood.<!-- Signature -->

  2. Re: BMW, True German Engineering

thats cuz it only weighs 940 kilos, anyway 333bhp form a 2.5L engine isnt much for a BMW, look at their F1 cars, 850bhp from a 3.0L V10, and BMW never uses turbos (except for turbodiesels)<!-- Signature -->

you people are forgeting that this is a race car and it weighs nothing, also most street cars can go at least 20 or 30 mph. faster but every single car is electronicly limmited

  5. 175MPH out of 333HP, thats amazing

    330 out a 4 banger nuff said.

    Beautiful

oh yeah the Skyline runs 330hp out of the RB26DETT consistantly<!-- Signature -->

  13. Re: BMW, True German Engineering

in it's time, not many. but the Mitsu Evo 6 can do 4.5 secs with 270 HP 4 banger. although, methinks it has a turbo...<!-- Signature -->

  15. Re: BMW, True German Engineering

this is an amazing car!<!-- Signature -->

  16. Re: BMW, True German Engineering

also the 2000 Delfino Feroce with 276 horsepowers does 0-60 in 4.0 ...... hmmm i think that is pretty amazing, that car is really underrated. this E30 is still incredible, <!-- Signature -->

  17. Re: BMW, True German Engineering

What's really quite amazing is the F1 engine built by BMW during the 1980's when Nelson Piquet won the championship. Its 4 cylinder turbocharged 1.5 liter engine produced over 1200 horsepower!

  18. Re: BMW, True German Engineering

it's a race car so it's engine is tuned for perfomance, and considering that 330 hp is nothing special. best materials and so on used but it's still not built for high milleage. in daily driving you would pay buckets of money for maintenance. <!-- Signature -->

Hey buddy, what about this then...

    http://www.supercars.net/cars/1973@$BMW@$E20%202002%20Turbo.html

Actually this is, one of the first production turbo cars so this kills the saying that BMW never uses the turbo to get the power.

Just a simple question, isn't this the car that Volvo 240 Group A car murdered on the European circuits in the late eighties??

ok dude, the guy could have been talking about recent BMWs giving that he talked about the turbo diesels, and BMW didnt start making turbo diesels til 1983 and u gave us a 1973 car that is a turbo 4-banger. So before u go off saying crap to ppl, read and then say something. Get the details.
