  1. SSC Ultimate Aero sets new world speed record!

Is time to say Bye Bye! Veyron, as now the SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo supercar is officially the "World’s Fastest Production Car".

For the new speed record to be accepted by the Guinness Book, Ultimate Aero TT needed to race down the selected course, turn around, and make a second pass in the opposite direction within one hour. This is to negate any discrepancy there may be in the course or conditions. Top speeds from each run are then averaged to obtain the official speed. This method has been used for decades as the benchmark for land speed record attempts.

The Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero (with 1,183hp) finalized speed testing with a World Record Breaking speed of 255.83 mph/ 411.76 kmh. The first pass was recorded at 257.11 mph/ 413.82 kmh, and the second pass was recorded at 254.55 mph/ 409.71 kmh. The official record was previously held by the Koenigsegg CCX (242 mph). The unofficial record held by the Bugatti Veyron is 253.4 mph.

  2. Its not official yet mate...
With an additional 200horsepower,a noticably smaller frontal area and lower drag it seems strange that it managed to only beat the veyrons record by 1.4mph.
  3. It takes mre horsepower than you think to push a car 1.4 miles faster than 253. And the Ultimate aero acually is somewhat aerodynamic(acually a lot more so than the veyron). Now we're going to hear fanboys talking about how much more hp this thing has while ignoring body structure and weight.
  4. this car is awesome
    its now the best
  5. Don't forget guys. This was down in Washington on a regular road that was closed. Not a high speed oval track in germany. This car can go alot faster if given the proper track or road. That is why the car only beat the Veryon by a little bit.

"Lack of a dedicated test site, which many of the larger automotive manufacturers have at their disposal, was just one of the many obstacles in SSC’s way. Led by founder and lead designer Jerod Shelby, the SSC design team spent the past seven years creating, engineering, and testing the Ultimate Aero. "From the beginning, we felt confident that the Ultimate Aero was first in its class. SSC’s design team deserves their place in the record books for their tireless determination and motivation on this project. We are enormously pleased with the progress we’ve made with the Ultimate Aero and we’re excited to put more of these impressive machines into the hands of our customers," Shelby stated.?

    Speed attempts
SSC tested the top speed capability of the Ultimate Aero TT on March 22, 2007. The original test was scheduled for March 21, 2007 but was called off due to bad weather conditions. SSC closed down a 12-mile (19 km) stretch of U.S. Route 93 in Nevada for the event. Their goal was to replace the Bugatti Veyron as the fastest production car ever produced, which at the time could achieve 254.3 mph. Simulation and testing at NASA's Virginia facility had shown that the Ultimate Aero TT should be capable of approximately 273 mph (439 km/h).[8] The March 22nd attempt failed to break the record, apparently due to sub-optimal conditions[citation needed]. Test driver Rick Doria reported "wheel-spin" at speeds above 190 mph (306 km/h).[9] Despite the failure of the attempt, the car still reached 242 mph (390 km/h)

SSC announced they had broken the speed record for the world's fastest production car with 256.15 mph (412.23 km/h) in West Richland, WA on September 13, 2007. The reported record speed came from an average of two runs in opposite directions, in accordance with Guinness Book of World Records rules. The first run clocked 257.41 mph (414.26 km/h) and the return trip 254.88 mph (410.19 km/h), with the average beating the Bugatti Veyron's speed by 2.35 mph (3.78 km/h). The results of this test, verified by Guinness World Records on October 9, 2007, gave the SSC Ultimate Aero the title of world's fastest production car.[2]

  7. its far from the best, cockbreath
  8. when they say "its class", do they mean shit cars that are completely unoriginal, ugly, and lacking in any quality whatsoever. ANYONE wih money and time can make a very fast car. If they really had "tireless determination" they would have made a good car.
  9. OK retard u think this car sucks go to and look at how they designed it and how they thought about a good car

  10. OK retard u think this car sucks go to and look at how they designed it and how they thought about a good car

  11. How old are you? Like 5?
  12. So... How old are you? If it's anything over 10 than you're as pathetic as everyone can plainly see. If it's anything under 10 than you're still more pathetic than words can describe. Stop talking shit because 1) you're not good at it, 2) all your points are either false or rediculously pointless, 3) you're taste in cars is limited to one car, and 4) you're quite obviously mentally unable to form a cogent sentence.
  13. this car is not based off the Lambo Diablo or SV its got more of a look of the Saleen S7 mixed with a McLaren F1 which actually is more aerodynamic than the Bugatti if you make a McLaren with as much HP as the beast that most people are calling shit then you will have a fast car but the Veyron is more like a rounded brick so im still trying to figure out how they got it to go so fast but this car is more than able to hit 270 with ease and i would still say there can only be 1 hypercar which is what this has been listed as in america out ranking the Veyron besides the Europeans control F1 and they have the autobahn so let us take the fastest car and we shall settle.
  14. LOL
  15. Oh...W...O...W...So, what you're saying is that you don't care about SSCs engineers, technicians, Research & Development teams, have come with?!? Please, I can't believe I have to tell you this again, but like you'd f*cking would turn down a set of keys to THIS every machine!!

While, yes "ANYONE with money and time (you mean time and money), can make a very fast car," now that's quoting you, PAL!! Now that's true, BUT for there efforts would result in, most likely a Cobra replica, Ultima GTR, Noble M12 or what ever else. Plus, how many out of those quote "people with time and money" could even come close to this in just seven years time?!? Also, how long would they last on such a project too begin with, anyways?!?

To your last little bit their BUD, what would you come up with that's "better" than this?!? Me and everybody else would seem to think, nothing WOULD come as CLOSE to this, there P.F. Boy!! Hey, just think what if Lamborghini did this to there Diablo!! Now there's an image everyone on here can envision, even YOU!!
  16. And yet its beaten the 962 LM GT, the F1, the Koenigsegg CCR and the Veyron 16/4, all in one day.

How is it NOT the best supercar, C.M?!?!
