i considered a scooter or something, and while its drastically cheaper operating costs (insurance and gas) it also doesn't really solve my problem. I'll still be exposed to the rain during the rainy season, and i kind of want to have passenger room.
How about a BMW C1. You have a roof, windscreen (and wiper!), seatbelts (rider only), and the rider technically doesn't need to wear a helmet!
I ended up buying a 1996 Toyota Rav4. It's pretty old, and has a lot of kms (250,000), but is also in nice shape. Seems to run well, parts seem very available for Toyotas and Hondas so I didn't wanna take chances with some weird brands. Very boring, safe purchase (i hope) Paid 2,000USD for it
Before they gave me a company car at Toyota they gave me a Rav4 from that era to drive until my car was delivered. It was the same colour as this, but one of the previous owners had painted the bumpers black, so it wasn't too terrible. In all seriousness though, it was kinda fun.
ya the little 3dr isn't much longer than a normal hatchback. It basically has a square footprint, though.
