Corvette Z06 vs Ferrari F430

Discussion in 'Videos and Sounds' started by Justme, Sep 26, 2006.

  1. I've yet to see a single publication rate the C6 Z06 over the F430 higher overall, and there's no arguing which is the more complete package. Besides, if, in your hypothetical situation, the F430 happens to be an F1 with launch control and the Z06 is being driven by anything other than a really, really good driver, the F430 driver won't have much to worry about. Remember, the race in the video is from a roll. And a Ferrari has nothing to prove to a Vette, no matter the price difference. It'll still sell like mad no matter how many drag races it loses, and I can't imagine a person seriously thinking about getting an F430 changing his mind because the Z06 is a bit faster in a straight line.

  2. The German mag Auto Zeitung rated the Z06 higher overall than the F430. (They rated the 997 Turbo over both.)
But yeah, I think most F430 owners don't really care if the Z06 beats their car. The marketplace ultimately decides what a car is worth, and for the considerably lower production volume of the F430, its price is justified.

  3. No thanks.

  4.
  5. Wow, 997 Turbo over both? You wouldn't happen to have scans, would you?

  6. Finally someone with some insight in this thread.

Not every single owner of this car is a 16 year old that drag races at every red light. The demand sets the price for this car which is why they're priced so differently. Like I said they're 2 different cars with 2 different markets.

  7. ye ye the Zo6 had no chance agens a ferrari F430 plz

  8. The F430 is almost as fast as the Vette with an engine nearly half the size. BUT being fastest is not the point. I don´t understand why you don´t see it. You can make a Civic faster than a 430 and most Supras are faster than a 430 in a straght line. It doesn´t matter. What matters is with the Ferrari you get a living legend. F1 technology. The most winning make ever in F1. The biggest name in the history of motoring...You get a Ferrari - the ultimate package.
You can keep more stuff in a Nike Sportsbag than in a LV bag but still the LV bag is much more expensive and like the ferrari - it is worth every penny.
If the 430 driver looses 10 out 10 street races against a Vette he is still the winner. He has still got the car that you want to arrive in any time any where.
If Ferrari had the childish objective of being the fastest the could just make the 430 the fastest. In 1987 they launched the F40, evne today it is way faster than a Z06. But is is not the point.

  9. You obviously do not understand, it doesn't matter than the Ferrari is a "living legend", because the Z06 kicks the sh!t out of the F430 on the Hockenheim, as does the 997 GT3, 996 GT3RS, Gallardo, Gallardo SE, Gallardo Spider and the CLK DTM.

I can go on with slalom, braking and etc. Liking Ferrari is fine, but to say the "living legend" is the best car in the world is ignorance.

  10. uh wut?

  11. I never said the 430 was the best car in the world even though it is one of the very, very best. But it has a 1,5 - 2 year waiting list even though it costs twice as much as the Chevy. That is a fact that you cannot argue against. It is like that because the car is perfect summing up all aspects of owning a sportscar.

Keep your Nike bag and i will keep my LV. Keep your leaf springs and your push rods and I will keep my Manetino and carbon ceramic brakes. It is fine with me.

    BTW

    Vairano Hadling track (air 18-20 °C, track 23-25 °C) http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=3&fID=0&tID=71292
F430 1'17"373 (1"93 better than F430 MY05, cause tires PZero Corsa, fixed setup and (probably) a little bit upgraded-engine)
    Gallardo 1'17"814
    Viper 1'19"510
    Corvette Z06 1'19"523
    Ford GT 1'19"810
    Porsche 997 Turbo 1'19"963

Impressive F430 and gallardo (it confirms Galalrdo SE lap time), ABOUT f430, impressive lateral end brake G: both 1.21g

    Verdict (max 1000 pts)
    1. F430 916
    2. Gallardo 849
    3. 997 TT 759
    4. Ford 677
    5. Viper 674
    6. Z06 664

  13. No i can not argue that the F430 is popular, who the hell could? I had heard Ferrari sold 400 F430 Spyder's even before the car was released, but what does that have to do with being a great car? Not to say that it isn't..

And i will keep my Nike bag, my leaf springs & pushrods. Why the hell not, i do not buy cars to pose, never have, never will and on to go onto a new tone the C6 may not have as much technology as the F430 but it sure holds it's owns against it. I love the Corvette, but i love the Zonda even more, so i'll take the Zonda with ceramic brakes, an old fashioned steel chassis with carbon layering and an old fashion manual gearbox.

The Zonda and the Corvette prove "old" technology works as well and in some cases better than new technology.

Thankfully, i do not stand on any fence, i've got no preference to make or country, it's called an open mind. Which is something you should get, because the world is not black and white. Just because a car uses leaf springs and pushrods doesn't mean it won't kick the F-Car in the arse.

  17. yep, driving is all about figures

  18. No it's not, stop being sarcastic. But when Mr. Italia claims the F430 is the best after reviewing one test something must be done.

  19. all i can say is to each is his own, we should leave it at that.

  20. Alright, i agree.

  21. 1.) Displacement is not size, and means squat. The LS7 is physically smaller, and probably lighter.
2.) Some people dont care about the badge/bragging rights.
Before some crying fanboy quotes me, NOWHERE did I say the Ferrari isnt worth the money, or isnt a great car.

  22. "That is a fact that you cannot argue against. It is like that because the car is perfect summing up all aspects of owning a sportscar."
Yeah... ownership cost of a Ferrari...how "perfect" the high prices of everyhting is.

Ill keep my lighter, longer lasting leafs, and you can have your old steel coils. Ill also gladly keep the lighter, smaller, cheaper LS7 making more reliable power from idle to redline (doesnt catch fire).

  23. I think everyone would agree to this :

Corvette C6 Z06 -- built for performance and function, a race car that you can buy at your local dealership

Ferrari F430 -- built for passion and meant as a status icon

In short they have the right to be compared by performance, nothing else

  24. A LV bag is not worth every penny you twit.

Also, your username annoys me so much.
