Cure for the S2000's lack of torque/power

  1. In your face you stupid Honda fanbois. Look how far back that engine is sitting. Did virtually nothing to the car's 50/50 weight distrobution but gave the car big power.

  3. Why would they do that!? Piece of shit engine in an engineering masterpiece. It is way too heavy and will ruin the handling and balance.
     
  4. I love these threads. I have a serious infatuation with engine swaps, and you always track down sweet ones. That thing must be a beast.
     
  5. It probably weighs the same as an S2000 with a supercharger and intercooler, if not less.

    Would need some bigger tires and then suspension adjustments.

  16. I don't mind this sort of thing, because it's putting an American V8 into a chassis/suspension set up that's not made from rubber.

  18. +1. The S2000 motor is totally gutless, which blows because the car is so nice to drive.

  21. I'm not sure whose building it other than the guy intends to take it road racing. Fifty Fifty Racing built that 2jZ powered S2000 but the Honda fanbois seem to hate that idea much more than the LS1 swap.

    The biggest problem with the 2JZ swap is that it's so much longer. The stock engine & the LS1 are about the same leight as they're both 4 cylinders long. The 2JZ being an inline 6 puts the weight much further towards teh front of the car.

    Just remember one thing though...some people like the rev range and characteristics of different engines. V8s aren't the king shit for everything. Most V8s drive like a truck...
     
  23. When it was launched it had more power than most of it's competitors (Porsche Boxster, Audi TT, BMW Z3,...)

    Stock for Stock it's less power
    It weighs more
    It puts the weight too far forward

    The 2JZ is a massively large enigne. If I had more time i'd go over to Hybridz and find you the photo of the LS1 beside the 2JZ. This guy has a 280Z swapped with both engines and the 2JZ is absolutely huge. It really only works as a swap for a car that had an inline 6 from the start
