Everyone, read this

I don't don't give a damn what anyone else thinks (mostly because I do not base my life's happiness on that) but I love this car!! It is a cool car. Styling, mechanics, everything. And I love rotaries! This is the first car I am buying out of college.

As for the RX-7 (which yes, I am aware that the RX-8 is not a replacement for), with an engine as small as the Renesis, I would love to see two of them under the hood. I really think Mazda should re-enter the RX-7 in the American market as an AWD quad-rotor, quad turbo (dare I hope?) 2dr 2-passenger pure sports car. Ha haa! beat that! A 400+ bhp AWD light-weight sportscar. And yes, this is an opinion, and I will probably have a heck of a time convincing Mazda that my opinion might be a good idea.

Have a good day. Anyone else plan on actually buying an RX-8, or just chatting about it?

  2. I'm tired of responding in every thread.

The Mazda RX8 is merely the LATEST in a long line of Mazda rotary 4 door cars. It is NOT a replacement for the RX7, nor is it supposed to be a pure sports car. I don't care about your OPINION of what an RX is supposed to be, if you don't understand what I've just posted, your "opinion" is WRONG, just as it would be if your "opinion" was that spreading grape jelly on your stomach was a cure for cancer... Get it?

Mazda had the R100 in coupe, sedan, and wagon form. Then there was the RX2, RX3, and RX4, all available in coupe, sedan and wagon form with 4-5 passenger seating and 4 doors in the sedan and wagon versions. These models lasted from the '60s to the end of the '70s, and are still raced today. What was Mazda thinking? Providing coupes and sedans with an alternative powerplant. Period. This is merely the most recent. It doesn't HAVE to be faster than the RX7. It's not replacing that model.

The Renesis engine is a way to get the car to make power, reliably, and also meet US emissions, something the outgoing RX7 had a hard time doing (which is the primary reason it was dropped from the US lineup. Had nothing to do with SUVs. Ford has spent a ton of money on developing the Renesis so that Mazda could re-enter the US market with rotary cars. Kudos to them...).

Torque is not an issue, because as anyone with even a shred of technical knowledge knows, gearing multiplies torque.

As a moderator, I can't police all the independant car forums, though I'd like to eliminate all the seriously ignorant troublemakers from them. The lack of thought, the lack of knowledge, and the opinionated narrowmindedness of people here who have no real knowledge is amazing. Sometimes I wish it actually physicaly hurt to be as stupid as people in here tend to be.<!-- Signature -->

the rx8 rotary is a huge success because it gets 188kw from somthing the size of a large lawnmower engine<!-- Signature -->

So you've never seen a rotary car's gearset before? 4.10:1 or shorter rear ratios, and very short gearbox ratios. Much like a sportbike.

People need to spend more time learning and experiencing, and less time theorizing...<!-- Signature -->
