better to delay it a little 'til it is ready, then say... i dunno... put a car on general sale that will burst into flames.
Glad to hear its faster than the 458 for the sake of some of the Ferrari fanboys on here Still, nothing will sway me from a Gallardo though...
They had the chance to learn about adhesive and hot exhaust for sure. the same guy the told me about the transmission also told me about the three 458 he saw at the McLaren factory....
The MP4-12C was first unveiled on September 8th, 2009, and the 458 was unveiled on 15 September 2009. So I think they had it pretty well figured out on their own well before 458s were in th factory. Pretty much every manufacturer out there will benchmark their cars against rivals.
Am I the only one that thinks the car looks decent? Is it the most original supercar design? Of course not, but it is in no way ugly.
I like the way it looks, the grill in the rear reminds me of the XJ220, and the whole thing has kind of an updated 90s supercar vibe, really cohesive too, nothing seems out of place. It also seems like the kind of car you could use without attracting too much attention, more like a 911 than a 458. I mean, it looks like an extremely high performance car, but with no unnecessary drama.
It is not more bland than a stock turbo and it looks way more classy than a Turbo S with forged wheels. Maybe they want their customers to use their cars ...
all companies serious about competeing with their competition do this. I also like the looks of the McLaren.
I like the car's character. To me it's a very good looking car. Same design philosophy as McLaren F1. Bodywork understated and purposeful. If Gordon Murray still works for McLaren and designs an entry level supercar, he might design something like this.
We are not talking pictures on the Internet. We are talking cars you can buy. The first 458 was delivered to a client in early December 09. The first Mp4 will be delivered summer 2011
but the interior are so sad... <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>
I personally like the design of the car. Its certainly not one of those in your-in-face designs. I personally prefer the design of the MP4 over the 458.
*YAWN* Quite boring to look at. And it'll probably fall to pieces in a few years. And yet, the fanboys will still be talking about it like it's the second incarnation of christ a decade from now.
