F%#K THIS AND GET A WESTFIELD MEGA BUSA!!!!!!

Discussion in '1999 Lotus 340R' started by nicktraffic, Aug 10, 2002.

1. VERY NICE BUT ACCORDING TO SOME OTHER GUY ON SC.NET THEY ONLY MADE 340 EXAMPLES (COS ITS DA 340R) AND SMALL NUMBERS OF A POPULAR BRAND MEAN EXPENSIVE.
SO GET A WESTFIELD MEGABUSA - FASTER 0-60, SIMILLAR WEIGHT, GREAT HANDLING, POWER, SPEED, LIKE THIS HAS NO ROOF OR DOORS AND ITS EVEN MORE ECONOMICAL IF U R REALLY ARSED COS IT HAS A MOTORBIKE ENGINE.

I don't know how much the westfield is but the Lotus has dropped under 20k. Will be interesting to see what price it is in the winter.

they did only make 340, but I have seen a few up for sale second hand. I went to a car show last week, and there were 4 of them there! and no Elises. Weird.

Given the choice of the two I would choose the Lotus, but it is more expensive. Unfortunately you always have to take price into account. At the new price of a 340r you are getting into tvr territory, then I would have some tricky choices.

on autotrader at the moment:

2000 LOTUS 340R Limited Edition Roadster 2000 Silver. Leather seats, Alloy wheels, Anti theft system, Sports seats, Shower hood, Battery charger. Full Lotus Service History (just serviced). One owner. 3000 miles

bargain if you ask me. There are two others up there as well. £23000 ish with the 190bhp upgrade, and still only 3000 on the clock

I'd rather have a 340R than the Westfield.......the Lotus is just that bit more special

i kinda like this instead of the westfield. its just looks alot better.

7. Re: F%#K THIS AND GET A WESTFIELD MEGA BUSA!!!!!!

i like this a lot better, though the mega busa is one of the best seven clones, the 340R just strait out kicks ass. this will probably turn more heads and is more exclusive.

ok i gots lot to say
nick: its not called 340R cause only 340 made it was name the 340r cause the techs who designed it expected it to have 340bhp per tonne
but only had somewhere around 280.00 bhp per tonne

anyone should take this over the megabusa due to the fact that it is more rare

mage busa doesnt beat this car
Road&Track did a test day with the CtareHam R500
Westfield Megabusa
Lotus 340R
R500- hard not to press gas and brake at same time
Busa- same problem with R500
340R- carbon fibre mud guards are noisy when rocks hit them
i mean come on only problem with the 340r is the mud guards
and the fact the wheels spin up going 60mph sometimes like coming out of a turn

There are some out there with this exact bhp/tonne rating. 190bhp VHPD, a few bits of carbon here and there and lightweight radiators / tanks etc mean it is achievable.

And Lotus did only make 340 examples - all individually numbered. I think there are still around 300 in existence - seen a few wrecked ones, and a good few burnt out

I'd pick the 340R over the Westfield, but Seven clones are great fun to drive. I know a guy who had a 340R, sold it and picked up a Caterham R300 - which he preferred. By all accounts a better track day car - stiffer, easier to set up, more controllable on the limit, faster lap times. 340R is fun, but its a handful

Yeah i posted this ages ago, but now you can get a good second hand example for £20 000

I would rather have the lotus now but it has one massive disadvantage - if u need serious work done on it and the body needs lifting off, cos its a one piece shell it costs £1000 minimum plus the repairs. So it costs over £1000 just for a new battery!
