    k, I will den.

  2. Alas Ford has yet again, wet our gums to promises of better cars that they cannot come through on. I was really hoping that they was going to produce this car. Heck, I would have bought one if they kept it under $80,000. But, lets face it. In the financial state they are in what are the chances of them actually putting this to market? Maybe they still will...that would be great but really what are the chances of it. What irritates me even more is that they released this car with full knowledge of the situation they was in. It is going to be just like the Ford 49". Yes, we can make awesome cars, but no we are not going to make them public. What a joke.<!-- Signature -->

  3. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

If I heard it correctly today Ford has posted up for this quarter, yes they have restructured and dropped a few old models, what car company doesn't do that? (Pontiac dropping Firebird, or were at least supposed to) and others. The point is, Ford is actually posting a profit for this quarter, among other failures all over the economy (Enron, K-mart, countless dot-coms). Ford has managed to post a profit through the Firestone scandal, through this piss poor economy, through competition, Ford has managed to post a profit.

Get real, the GT40 is a reality and will tear up your Corvettes.<!-- Signature -->

I don give a shit if its gon be produced of not. I don give a shit if it tears up a Vette. All I know is that I WILL run this horse shit over with my Escalade.<!-- Signature -->

  5. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

ford's official releases have titled the gt40 as a concept to be slated for production. granted i'm not much of a ford fan (who is?), but you have to have respect for this car. and as for your escalade...just try catching this machine. escalade has been tested against similar competitors (almost all w/ less power than it because of its overkill engine) and has been beaten by all of them in nearly every single test. the escalade is an overpriced status symbol; useless in almost all SUV applications besides picking up the kids from soccer practice and hauling some groceries.

  6. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

LOL, the fact you can "afford" an Escalade, let alone a "tricked out" one, makes me laugh. We had one in the shop recently, came from a local performance shop, so it supposedly had more power than your stock Escalade, it also had 20" rims. The thing still drove like a tank, no actual speed whatsoever. I hate to see how badly the stock one drives.

payton by the time your imaginary Escalade (Nissan Pulsar) actually saw the GT40 in your rear view mirror, it would already be too late.<!-- Signature -->

  7. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Did I hear this correctly? Talking about pitting an Esclade against the GT40...lol...you got to be kidding me. Maybe it would win in a drag race if you ripped out the whole driveline and replaced it with a supercharged 454+ big block with nos, a good Richmond 6-speed and droped the weight by a good 1000 lbs...lowered it etc. Otherwise stop smoking crack. I used to sell Denali's (GMC Esclade) at a dealership. Those were made for luxery and nothing else. That is almost as bad as saying that I would whip it with my modded Hummer. Yeah I could make a Hummer do it...if I mounted jet turbines on it like I have seen in tractor pulls. It is mechanically impossible unless you basically build it into a whole other machine. Oh, 84fordman, could you send me the link to where they stated that, I would like to see what they are planning for it because I want to see it out, but I am still pretty skeptical about it. <!-- Signature -->

It was a CBS MoneyWatch news brief during commericial breaks. You could try and find it. Like I said, had half my head in the computer at the time.<!-- Signature -->

  9. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

I aint comparing the Escalade, I'm just sayin I will crush this piece of wasted metal with it...

  10. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

You got to catch it first, the Escalade does what, 0-60 8.5 seconds?<!-- Signature -->

  11. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

I could be coming head on...

  12. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Oks, then who has better handling? The Tank or the GT40? Do me a favor, watch The French Connection.<!-- Signature -->

  13. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Yep, no way you could run over the GT-40 even if you tried. I used to have a F-350 crewcab dually and I now own a Corvette. Considering handling and agility...you couldnt tag it. Believe me...I live in a college town, I have had big trucks almost run me over before in the Vette. If something like that doesnt want to get ran over, it is not going to...lol.<!-- Signature -->

  14. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Again, this is an Escalade I'm talking about. NOT a shitty F-series!!

  15. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Oks, so lose 4WD and handling, and add a few doors and about another 1/2 ton of weight, and you got an Escalade. Still, the GT40 could run circles around your imaginary Escalade.<!-- Signature -->

  16. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Fine, if you cant get the image of the Escalade running this over in your head, than how about your Mustang, that definately wont stand a chance. I would crush that piece of plastic metal shit so bad, you wont be able to recognise what the hell I ran over ANd yet, I aint kidding. I have an Escalade.

  17. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Even if I disengaged the traction control in the 99 GT, you STILL could not run over me. If I shifted to 2L in my F-150, YOU STILL COULD NOT RUN OVER ME. Why? Well first off, my F-150 sits at about, a little taller in the front if you ask me, than your Escalade. So the only place your going on my F-150, is under it!

When your talking about running over and into things, you first of all need to get a vehicle that can actually withstand a hit at 25+ MPH, without crumbling up into a big plastic ball. So your Escalade is out of the picture.<!-- Signature -->

  18. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

I used to sell the GMC version which is the same exact thing except for the logo. I used to drive them all the time. Ain't no way you can run it over.<!-- Signature -->

  19. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

Well all I know is my F-150 XLT, without any lift kit and using sport tires, still sits higher (front end to front end) than the current Escalade. I could put some Super Swampers on her and be that much bigger <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif">

Once I'm done, just hitch the front end of what's left of the Escalade to my F-150 and drive away, or give me the Ford SVO 460 V8, and I'll tow two on the highway.

Again, American steel versus whatever the hell they made the Escalade out of. I've seen one in an accident (Wasn't even high speed), it ain't pretty.

Then compare rollover ratings, the Escalade's is average. Mine has yet to rollover, and I go into corners hard and fast. Trust me, my F-150 versus ANY Escalade, the smaller or bigger engine or EXT model, the Escalade isn't going to come out.<!-- Signature -->

  20. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

You couldnt run over much in a big ford since they put the bars in the lower bumper to keep their larger vehicles from running over and decapitating the little sports car driving weasels. I have an f-350 crew cab 4x4 and the only way i would be able to crunch a vette or anything of the like is to hope that i have a full tank of gas and can keep up with it, then have the grave digger flashbacks.<!-- Signature -->

  22. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

How did this turn into an F-whatever vs Soccer Mom Escelade?

Back to the original subject, I shall list my reasons why ford should and probably will produce this vehicle.

#1 Ford has nothing to compete against Chryslers Viper or GM's Vette, and don't say the mustang, it is not in this class. I could almost say the same thing about the GT40 though, it's in a class higher than the Viper or Vette.

#2 A high end sports car is good at selling the smaller cars, I think jay leno said it best in a popular mechanics "One viper will sell 100 neons"

#3 This would be a huge boost to fords image which has steadily been going down hill since the 70's

#4 It doesn't compete with any of fords other vehicles, which has been a big problem for american car companies of late, that's why Lincoln and Mercury are being fased out.

#5 It just plain kicks ass, and I should hope that since the new president has Ford in his name he should wnat something that kicks ass to go with it.

I think my rant is done.

  23. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

i wouldn't go so far to say that it is out of vipers' league. vetts can't match up, but provides great performance for the price. i think that ford will make this puplic, because they need to develope a fast car that can match up to viper and vetts.

i will guarantee that when ford produces this car that they might become one of the more popular super cars in america.

  24. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

payton101ca you need to shut up , because it sound like you smoke too much weed.
Anyway , I think the ford gt40 is a sweet car and all. Homwever , it will lose to a vette in one way, SALES. Chevy has done what no other company has , that is make a high Performance 350 hp car avaiable to averge income people , for 45,000 to 50,000. I should know , I am a 20 years old and i own a 2002 corvette (Sweet Car). If Ford some how makes this gt40 car cost less that 100,000 i will be very impressed and want to own one of my own.

  25. Re: Get real, they are not producing it.

whoever has the escalade your gonna get your @$$ whipped by me if u dont shut the hell up and yes it is coming out in 2002 so when i get 1 i will smoke your escalade then i will burn it and send you and your escalade to hell.
