yeah.... i REALLY hope so guys. but what i'm REALLY scared of is that camaro will come back FWD. i know... i know... it would be blasphamie, and they would never do such a thing... right? but let me just remind us all of three very good cars, that chevrolet ruined: Malibu, Monte Carlo, and Impala. all of these cars went away on hiatus for 'improvement'. how did theycome back?<!-- Signature -->

The press release on this is? Oh yeah, I forgot, you lie alot. Tell me why I should trust your blind faith assumption that the F-bodies are coming back. Hell you were already proven by your fellow peers that you lied about owning a 1994 Firebird Formula, stealing pictures of ones from the web, never able to keep the pictures consistent.

Where is your proof the F-bodies are coming back, Mr. 94Cavalier?<!-- Signature -->

You wish. If the F-bodies do come back in a few years, the Mustang GT will have over 300 RWHP stock and the Cobra will have closer to mid-400s to near 500 RWHP. The 01 Cobra runs high 4 second 0-60, by the time the new F-bodies come out the Cobra will be running low 4s, high 3s. The SS runs mid-5s now. As you can see, you will always be playing catch-up, in sales of the F-bodies and performance of them.

And I highly doubt, even in your most perverted, Chevy-filled dreams, you couldn't smoke a GT40 new or old.<!-- Signature -->

84Fordman, I thought you made sense up until this post. You can't say the 01' Cobra does 4's in 0-60. The SS has always been faster, especially from 93-02. The LS1 engine from 01 is dyno'd with more hp than the Cobra's 4.6. Then you have to consider the Zexel Torsen rear end the SS has, the Hurst tranny, 17" 275 tires for grip, and the ram air. These performance mods have always kept the SS a step higher.
I must say I am excited about racing the 03' Cobra. I have a 2001 SS. It is the fastest car I have ever owned. I live in New England and we have the biggest "cruise scene" on the east side of America, so I can say I have had the pleasure of racing a variety of cars, including the SVT cobra. Fast, yes, but not par with the SS.

SS uses the same throttle body as the ZO6 vette.<!-- Signature -->

Fordman, check out this site. It is a little outdated, but it will give you a little info about my cruise scene

But yet I can say the 01 Cobra does 0-60 in the 4s and here's my proof:

    http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddriver/roadtests/2001/July/200107_roadtest_svtcobra.xml?keywords=Cobra

"Then we strapped on the test gear and made a few runs at the track. The results were staggering—the Cobra's acceleration time matched a Camaro SS's. The Cobra scooted to 60 mph in only 4.8 seconds and through the quarter in 13.5 seconds at 105 mph. Our last Z28SS (a particularly quick model we tested in October 1998) hit 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and did the quarter in 13.5 seconds at 107 mph."

    Like I said, a step behind.<!-- Signature -->

Wow. Thats pretty amazing. I guess you're right, sorry. They tested it against a 98 or 99 SS, right? The 01 and 02 SS use the same throttle body as the ZO6 which gives the last 2 years of the SS camaro an edge on previous models.
What confuses me on the stats you gave me is how the SVT was .1 sec. quicker. The tires are smaller on the SVT (245) the SS uses (275). But, credit given where credit is deserved, and my hat goes off to the SVT mustang.
Thanks 84Fordman. Finally stats instead of ann argument <IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"><!-- Signature -->

poor camaro it was never as good as corvette but stil its a chevy i salute u! heil gm!<!-- Signature -->

  14. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

The Camaro is dead, face the facts, there's not much gas left, do you think we can afford for everyone to be driving around in camaro's. A tuned import that can run nines, can still get 20mpg. Acura DN-X concept gets 40mpg and has 400hp, yeah it's still a concept but hey it's a possibility.

  16. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

you loser's and ur imports camaro's wont be back but at least they lasted longer then the supra

  17. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

yeah they said they were expecting the next generation somewhere around 2006 and expected to have at least 400 or more horsepower so eat that import owners.

  18. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

You know that "one". There's always that "one" that can run 6 second 1/4's and still get 87 mpg on 600 shot NOS. Those "this air filter gives me 90 horsepower" type r1cers need to be shot.

  19. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

by the way, about the current Cobra and not being on par with the SS, when Motor Trend test drove the Mach 1, which as we all know has much less power than the Cobra, they said that not only did it out turn the previous SS, that it out ran it in all acceleration tests. THey continued to say that the coolest part of that was that it was the midgrade Mustang, not even the Cobra. So...

  20. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

Mach 1's are possibly underrated just like the LS1's

  21. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

GM mite releace the production C6 vette and the concept Camaro and Firebird at the same time

  22. Re: Gm is not killing f-bodies

well i heard and many other import lovers heard that the next gen supra, skyline, and nsx will prolly have 400 or more hp also.
