  1. Even if they wern't captured in combat they could be people of interest.

    They are being held on US Soil. Gitmo is US Territory just as if it were Hawaii or Ohio.
     
  2. Regardless, you can't and shouldn't hold people forever, even if they aren't US citizens.

  4. They should have been classified as Prisoners Of War. In that case, they could be held as long as the "War on Terror" continues. But instead the administration insisted on Unlawful Combatants.

    The common belief is that, since they weren't following the Geneva Convention, they are no longer POWs. They fall into a state of no rights what-so-ever.

    I'm curious as to the legalities of that claim. I'm not an international lawyer so I don't know.
