I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

1. No offense to you serious Firebird fans.

but I really hate Pontiac. As cheesy as many American cars are, Pontiac is by far the worst. Could Pontiac at least try to give SOME class to their cars like Chrysler (tries to do)? No. Instead they put out cars like the Vibe GT-R or whatever that piece of trash is called and the Grand Am Hot Wheels and the Trans Am Firebird anniversary edition. It's so typical of Pontiac to stick some white tail-lights, big wheels, and an (ugly) special paint job on a car. It's just like all the aftermarket cars I see. Those cars (including these) have the least class out of any car. The rest of the world laughs when they see those cars go by even though the driver feels real cool...

and 175 hp out of a V6 is nothing. I wonder how much this costs. If this is above 20 grand I'll laugh... and then I'll go buy a Passat or a Maxima.

This car is an absolute waste of time and money. I could justify the Hot Wheels Civic Si (or even if they used the Gran Prix instead) long before I could ever justify making this car. I really, really (I can't stress this enough) hate those tail lights!

No offense to the majority of NASCAR fans.. but this car was produced to excite the lowest level of rednecks in existence.

Yes it is dumb. I agree, someone else has some common sense at seeing that Pontiac builds the ugliest cars around. The Aztek has to be the worst looking trash around. And people say the M Coupe is ugly. Atleast that has class to it.

I agree. Pontiac is the king of bad gimics to sell their poor cars to people who dont know the difference. And what is the deal with all the body cladding that these cars have its almost embarrasing to park next to one. Oh yea about the m coupe it only looks ugly to many people because every other car on bmw's list is at least a 8 in the looks department. And the m coupe is a 6 above average but not even with the other bmws. now if it were a pontiac whose cars are about a 2 in looks then it would look pretty cool.

Right on, pontiac lacks innovation. I drive a black s4, its nice. The interior is very solid and the car has alot of power. Innovative features like auto tilt headlights so you dont blind people, quattro etc. This car looks ugly. On top of that, I bet the car has the exact same interior as a regular one. The trans ams are fast, and can be very very fast. But however, the leather interior on those is crap, the seats are crap, the dash is all plasticy and gross, and the guages are hard to read. In one word, un-ergonomic. Crysler tries to make their cars classy because Mercedez-Benz has controlling interest in them. Merc told them to shape up or get shut down. So crysler is making better cars because merc was getting on their ass for making shitty cars. Now they are ok. Pontiac tries to style progressively in an attemp to look innovative, but it always turns out somewhat ugly. About jap cars. They, for the most part, have shitty power. They look alright, but again their interiors are shit, but not as bad as american cars. Any car can be fast, I know a guy with a 7 second beretta. So civics can be fast as hell, doesnt mean its streetable, or street legal. If you have to buy a jap car, and want to make it fast, please save up and buy an RX-7, 300zx, Supra, Skyline, or NSX. Otherwise making it fast will result in a total loss in streetability. Im just saddened that american cars havent discovered that they are making crummy cars, and in an effort to make them competative in the market, make them like japanese imports. Which are almost as bad. sorry about the rant... im done. Cheers!

I personally love this car. I have since the first time i saw it. So what it doesn't have 400 bhp, or it isn't a 10 sec car, it looks nice and is suitable to drive every day. The inside of a grand am doesn't compare to a Mercedes or Caddy, but it feels kinda sporty and looks kinda kool. As for the trans am interior being crappy looking, i beg to differ. Have you ever sat in a Trans Am? Probably not, it is a sweet car to sit in, or drive

right on carlo ss 350. this is for all you lames out there bagging on pontiac. no, its not a caddy or a mercedes, those are flat out UGLY! always have been, always will be, and, on top of that, they only have alot of power so they can move their heavy butts. these pontiacs, their lightweight, so they dont NEED a ton of power. i know someone who used to have like a 93 grand am, my MOM in fact, and she tested it. you people saying they cant go fast have apparently never driven one. it went over 135 mph. not bad for a PONTIAC. and as for the styling of pontiac against caddy and mercedes, one, caddy and mercedes, the even halfway good-looking ones are like $60,000 and these grand ams and grand prix are like low to mid $20,000. of course it wont have the money into the motor or aerodynamics.however, this car will slice air MUCH, MUCH better than a blocky caddy and mercedes. now get those overrated imports and high-class americans out your butts, and use your brain! a $20,000 coupe/sedan will never be comparable to a $60,000 - $80,000 richie-mobile. so shut the hell up!!!!!!

9. Re: I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

I feel sorry for all of you pontiac defenders out there so I will take this post to educate you as to what you can get out of a finely crafted car such as a mercedes benz. Mercedes doesnt need flashy paint, high wings or loud exhausts to sell their product they are so well built they can sell their self with no such pontiacian gimics. And when you get to the basics of it a used mercedes is not that much more expensive than a new pontiac according to the auto world weekly used car buyers guide (a good investment to anyone looking for a used car). A 1996 c class will go for as little as $14,000, so almost anyone can afford to drive a mb. And my personal favorite a 1998 slk (sport light and kompact) will sell for $28,000. And how would you not rather have a lighter, better handling, faster, classier car than a new pontiac? Who in their right mind would take a new pointac over a 98 slk? Regardless of the year you will turn a lot more heads and pick up a lot more girls in a slk over a grand am.

Also just because a car looks more aerodynamic than another doesnt mean that it is the case. A brand new e class has drag of just .28 (very good) and just out of esitmation the poniac is much higher at arround .35.

They should start making these kinds of grand ams ...its much better looking than the ones that are out now

11. Re: I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

i agree that they should make this grand-am, but, needs more power. and for all those pontiac haters out there, just shutup will ya?

No Kidding. Give this car and Pontiac a break. All they did was take a base Grand Am SE and put a styling kit on it. Same engine and transmission with no mods. 205 lbs of torque and 175 hp isnt bad for a 12valve V6. GM hopes to be putting a 3.6Litre 24 valve engine in these by 2005. These engines are supposed to put out around 255/255. For a Grand Am similar to the HOT WHEELS but with a little more power check out the GRAND AM GXP @ >> http://www.n-body.net/index.php

Hey Man the car is great and yes the looks are a little bad I agree. These cars rock. And I have handled one before. ('99 Pontaic Grand Am GT V6 H.O.

Hey guys, guess what. I hate when people trash Pontiac. They are the performance line of GM. They don't design the cars either, It's the retards at GM that got rid of the F-Body. Anyway, this its a very good looking concept car, it probibly won't be built, and if it is built there will be some modifying done to it. Who when to the Orlando International Auto Show? Did you see the Grand Am concept there. It was awesome, and there is a good chance it will be built.

OK, PONTIAC IS SIMPLY CRAP! At least some other American sport cars have class, like the Mustang, Corvette, even a camaro! But the firebirds, trans ams, and this piece of plastic? BLECH! Grand AMs are for wanna be sports car drivers, AKA: 50 year old mean hitting their mid life crisis but cant afford an actual sports car, so they drive this hunk of junk like its something quality. ARG! I HATE PONTIAC!!!!

16. Re: I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

Are you basing this on fact or your wet dreams of owning a Benz? Have you seen the current MB line up? Looks pretty flashy to me, all those curves and louvers and fancy pain jobs.
Educate me? "...and just out of estimation the pontiac is much higher at around .35"--you moron. Estimation? If you don't have cold hard facts, just shut up.
Used Benz is not that much cheaper than a new Pontiac? What about maintainance? Insurance? Fuel cost? Remember to get a used Benz at that price, how much warranty would you have left? Do you really think most people care about the emblem on the hood that much that they would forego a new car with a full warranty, to buy a 7 year old Benz that may or may not require EXPENSIVE repairs in the near future.
Who in their right mind would take a new Pontiac over a 98 SLK? How about someone with a family, a mortgage, and bills to pay. They wouldn't be in their right mind if they bought a 2 seat little roadster instead of a new car.
Turn heads and pick up girls? What are you 17? That last bit just shows how ignorant and immature you are. I drive a Grand Am, and its reliable, fun to drive and economical. I really admire MB, I do, but for the price of a small, used Benz, I have my daily driver, and a 96 Vette in the garage. Do you think THAT car has problems turning heads?
By the way what do you drive? Probably a Schwinn.

17. Re: I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

respect your opinion, but i think this car is great, thats jjust my opinion though

18. Re: I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

True they have curves, but they are alot more tasteful than on a pontiac. And how often do you see a mb show car bound for production wearing any thing other than silver? Most every one I see is silver and since when is silver a flashy color?

But lets back away from the looks because that is in the eye of the beholder, and focus on other things. A c240 the ,6 year old car I was comparing to, (the compro is now a year old) cost 10k less than than a new grand am. It was only to show how low priced one could be. And that 10k would go a long way towards the occasional repairs (lets face it. given the outstanding quality of a mercedes there arent going to be many) and the slight bump in insurance.

As for the emblem many people will choose to keep 10k in their pocket and drive a used mercedes instead of a new grand am.

Since when did the pontiac grand am become the practical standard of the world? If I had a family and high expenses to worry about I would drive an accord instead of a grand am. If you want to turn this into a emotional battle I can beat you with an slk. If you want a practical battle I can beat you with an accord, the most practical car on earth. So what is the point of buying a grand am when it doesnt win in either catergory?

Yea right I drive a schwinn "--you moron. If you don't have cold hard facts, just shut up." Sound familiar? As much as I doubt you ouwn a 96 vette (if so, your one to say an mb has high insurance)I can one up you there in the off chance that it is real. You are partly right I do drive something with 2 wheels, its a r6. Its reliable, fun to drive and economical.

19. Re: I hate cars like this. This is very typical of Pontiac.

You're correct on the Accord issue, it is a great car, I owned one, but we weren't talking about the Honda. I got rid of it because it was starting to need repairs that were more costly than the vehicle would be worth in a year or two. FYI my 2002 Grand Am is $700 cheaper than my 1993 Accord was on insurance when I switched policies. Can you say high theft rates? Just for fun, I got a quote on your C240, a 96 model, and it was about 900 more than I currently pay. My Vette, yes I have one, and no, I don't care if you believe me or not, is actually cheaper than my Grand Am because of the extremely low mileage per year. Also, maintenance costs, long term and short, are much lower on the Grand Am than either the Mercedes or the Accord. Check it out, you'll see I'm correct. I never said it was the practical standard of the world. Don't put words in peopls mouths, it only takes away from what little credibility you have.

What's the point of saving $10,000 on a car if your only going to dump it back into the car in repairs? Couldn't you use that money to buy, oh lets say, an R6? Were you even thinking about what you were typing at that part?

Cold hard facts? C'mon, I made a joke to illustrate how assinine and juvenile your argument was, not blatantly try to make a car look bad by using "estimation", like you did. THAT'S why I called you a moron.

Listen, I'm not interested in an emotional battle,I still don't get how the SLK fits into this, but you seem to be of the sensitive persuasion. When you go out picking up girls with your SLK, do you show them that side, or do you let your car do the talking? Grow up kid, and get over it. And if you're not a kid, then try to be a grown up and realize how stupid your whole rant sounded.
