1. No offense to the makers of the *cough*Crap*cough* caterham but I have to say I have seen faster Renaults and there about 7 years old! And they've got crappy plastic hubcaps!

2. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

I already mentioned that this is like a street-legal go kart!

And btw, these kinds of cars aren't about top speed or looks. They're made for raw thrills, acceleration, and handling.

You're right.. in a way. This car was in fact built for a purpose. That is to provide raw thrill and great acceleration. Go Carts are made for the same reason. They're for people who like 4-wheelers but want more thrills and better acceleration...DUMBASS! The bottom line is that TVR is right.

WakkaWu...you do realize that on nearly any race track, this "mere" R300 would roast any Corvette nigh the Z06? You do realize that I COULD be wrong with that Z06 part too right? The R500 will beat ANY Corvette you could throw at it. It beats a Corvette engined racecar called the "Stealth B6"..that has over 400 hp.
The R500 will dominate ANYTHING that America has to offer, both in sheer speed, and fun. Hell, even Panoz cannot match it.
Score 2 for the Brits
Score 0 for the Yanks
All that is left to say to you is:
You have just been BURNED.

8. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

Puro, i hope u do realize that all they did was put a regular inline 4 into a body that only was 1100 lbs. It doesn't take a mechanical engineer to fugure out that when u do this, the car will go fast. And by the way, any american car company could do the same thing, but if u ask me its kinda like the guy that started this forum said, this is just an adult's go kart.

- I THINK THIS GUY HAS LOST HIS MIND

-This car was made for people to mess around in and have fun in. Its not a professional race car. And with a topspeed of 130, it would even be able to keep up with the corvettes u are talking about. Even the cheapest stock corvette would beat this in a real race. Think before you type lol.

I'm not saying the Caterham is the fastest car on the planet - it isn't. *BUT* you should not judge a car by it's diminutive size.

And you are wrong about it not being a professionally raced car. There are plenty of professional racing championships for Sevens. I mean - for pity's sake it *IS* a race car, first and foremost and a street car second !!!!

11. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

I was saying that the superlight wouldn't be able to keep up with the corvette in races and tracks that cars reach high speeds at (it only does 130). For example, the supercar shootout that car and driver holds has a requirement that all cars that participate reach at least 150 mph during their runs. It also tests eachs cars braking from 150-0. This caterham wouldn't even be able to participate in any of this. These cars are made for totally different things.

12. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

The Caterham is excellent at complex tracks with tight corners, whereas the corvette would kill it at an oval racetrack, i.e. american racetracks. I have read a lot of entries on this site and most of it is miscommunication based on the different views of what's the definition of a racetrack.

I would rather drive the corvette to work, but for a winding mountain road I'd pick the Caterham.

BTW this is my first post...

there is a corvette that can beat this.1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88. STOCK. 550-600 horse powe and a top speed of 170. hah. the score is tied.
brits - 2
yanks - 2

ok just for the record, I think a viper could beat this.

17. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

this is a great car, maybe not the fastest, but Caterham's are about FUN!!! It's a joy to drive one of these (EVO has rated it trackdaycar of the year) and more important, it's VEEEEERRY cheap to run. All those modified vipers, corvettes, .... will wear there tyres and brakes in a few laps and the bills? astronomical!! I would take this over almost every other car here on the site. Huge thrills, low costs and fast, what do you want more???

18. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

This car SUCKS So much i ve never seen a sucher as it builder its very un cool

19. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

OK???? Can you give me some reasons why it sucks??

20. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

ummmmmmmm, you can get this car in a different version which goes 150mph and 0-60 in 3.4 how many renaults can do that?

21. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

Beat it doing what ?

If it's:
A) Going in a straight line.

Then yes, the Viper would beat it.

If it's:
B) On a twisty (ie. not an oval-US-style) race track.

Then think again ....

22. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

Did you see the part about the L88 running the 1/4 mile in 13.5X seconds? Its the top-of-the-line Vette. The top of the line R500 would torch it in acceleration or handling.

23. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

Did you look at the track times posted earlier on this string? The Viper was slower than a lesser Seven than this one.

24. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

Hey i think caterhams are sweet, pure race car. No radio, not ac, hell not even a roof. light as a feather, hey morons pics don't tell you but this thing is only like knee high and is a open wheeled race car *ahem* formula1*ahem*. I do belive it can pull well over 1 g on the skid pad. something closer to 1.5 gs and hual ass in the slalom. again small light and destroy all but the fastest cars for a hell of a lot less money.
BTW i forget what its called but some japanese company makes a lotus 7 chassis car with 2 kawasaki zx-9 engines (stock bike form is about 130hp a piece) that can smoke a McLaren f1.

25. Re: It's an adult Go Cart!

I think you're talking about the tigersport. Its British, and two engines are pointless. For the same weight you could have a single block with more flow and more power. Two "identical" engines seldom have the same exact balance and the harmonics from one engine interfere with the other. Thats why throughout history, cars with two engines in a common drive line break a lot. Not to say the tigersport isn't fast but its still got the twin engione problems.
