Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package smashes Nordschliefe production record with 7:14 lap

The web is afire with news that Lexus has managed to demolish the standing production-car record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The news comes courtesy of EVO Magazine's own Chris Harris and Lexus itself via the miracle of Twitter. Lexus test driver Akira Iida reportedly managed to twist the LFA Nürburgring Edition around the infamous circuit in 7:14. If true, that time puts the carbon-fiber exotic four-seconds ahead of the previous production-car champion, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, at 7:18, and it puts the LFA Nürburgring Edition in the top five quickest vehicles to ever run the track.

    Impressive.

We'll keep you posted with more information as Lexus releases details on the run. Here's hoping they had the video cameras rolling while they were out laying waste to the Green Hell.

  2. I kinda love the LFA. More than anything short of a Pagani.

  3. Awesome lap time I love the LFA but I still prefer the ZR1 by alot.

  4. pretty much this
the only reason why i can believe people would hate it is the price

  5. Dont forget the power of Badge snobbery.

Some people will just never accept that some Japanese cars are getting faster than their beloved euro/us cars after the "gentlemens agreement" was removed.

  6. LFA>>>>>>>ZR1.

  7. Ha! after the americans were bragging about their Zed Ar One and Viper a true car with true technology comes and squeezes it in their face ha!

  8. "true technology"??? Anything has more technology than the viper. The fact that the driver didn't get killed driving the viper is anything short of a miracle

  9. LFA = Literally #$%#ing Awesome

    and it sounds like heaven

  10. Phenomenal car. If only they made more of them!

  11. no one said anything about that ancient viper. i was talking about TRUE technology. you can take those leaf springs and unbearable suspensions somewhere else. the lfa is like a fresh new rubber that squirts out of the line and drenches it in your face

  12. Reread your previous post. Also the last time I checked This true tech car just posted slower time than these old tech cars riding on a 6-8 year old chassis at the laguna seca track.

"the lfa is like a fresh new rubber that squirts out of the line and drenches it in your face." the lfa is slow off the line so there's nothing drench on somebody's face.

  13. at least it can last longer on long stretches of upright straightaways than your precious american technology from the 1800's. re-read my post and they know that you get OWNED

    yall

  14. The only reason why it can last longer on upright straightaways is because of unintended acceleration. OWNED

  15. wtf are you girls talking about? Straightaways? PLease stop making up words or I will ban you both

    And where's the video yo?

  16. 7:14 is lightening, also want to see the video. That thing sounds amazing.

  17. it lasts longer because it has ENDURANCE. it is built better unlike your American cars and it actually is able to bang through the tranny with no problem. zed ar one has a terribile tranny and isnt able to bang through it upright through the straight away. once it meets the slightest curb its endurance stops and it has to pull out and you know it. the lfa is a much better built vehicle with a better tranny and engine and you know it

  18. in my experience trannys do not pull out even when asked <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/sad.gif"></A>

  19. Lol LS motors have been proven for many years to be reliable in Le Mans and in production car form and have won countless races and championships. Wheres the LFA motorsport victories and titles???? Oh wait it's 0 and the covette? Umm look at the past ten years in the ALMS and see who has been taking the title.
As for the transmission the corvette hasn't had any problems as for breaking down, my friend owns a c5 corvette with 200k with the original transmission. Of course the corvette's isn't like Porsche's but it's reliable and the last time I checked the lfa's transmission isn't that great either.

  20. bad troll is bad

  21. Awesome tech and preformance, but the thing still is pig ugly.

  22. "LS motors have been proven for many years to be reliable in Le Mans"
redunant car for a redundant series it proves nothing. austin martin totally kicked their butts remember?

"have won countless races and championships"
others have won more and if u give lexus a shot theyll win everything also

    "Of course the corvette's isn't like Porsche's "

duh itll never be like the lfa much less porsche. who are you kidding?

  23. Hey turb0 welcome back
Did you try that new taco?

  24. "Who has been taking the title"? Pratt & Miller. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A> And I believe the transmission (Hewland) is quite different from the street Corvette. Some of which are having oiling and valve-dropping issues...
LFA has had around 3 class wins at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and VLN enduros on the Nordschleife, in a class that is far closer to stock (and thus more relevant to production cars) than what the C6.R has been running.

If the ZR1's lap time is amazing, then so is the LFA's.
