One question that assaulted me: I've red the GTRs converted to street use were done by McLaren themselves under the customer's request. Is that accurate?
No. Lanzante's have done most, if not all (? Correct me if I am wrong Erik), of the GTR race > road conversions
I believe McLaren did #10R for Nick Mason themselves. Not sure who did #07R or #16R. STW Harnesses apparently did #06R. Their website is gone, but they used to have the story there. >8^) ER
Damn!!! It stop right at the end of the sale! But it doesnt show the very end, when the auctioneer slams the hammer! Dammit, thats the best part. Anyone else find a video that actually shows the ending?
Different camera - all the way to the end. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/cool.gif"></A> >8^) ER
Anybody know what the limited edtion of driving ambition is worth now....? I have a copy and cant seem to find any reference of what it worth. I know that they are all sold out now. They sold for about $1k when they came out about 10 years ago. If anyone has any reference I would appreciate.Peloton? http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/customer_care/driving_ambition/limited.htm
It's been a while since I saw one of those come through Ebay and I forget what it sold for. The LeMans Edition is still available from McLaren for £825.00 which equals about $1,225 USD. It used to be much higher when the GBP and USD were at about a 2:1 ratio. While you might find someone to pay you what you paid for the LE version of the book (or more) right now, the smarter thing to do would go for the more limited version (1 of 59) for just a bit higher price if I was buying. In fact, if the currency rates keep swinging in our favor, I might finally pick up one myself. >8^) ER
cool find <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
One picture I never noticed in this thread, and can't seem to find anywhere else (other than a thumbnail) is a picture of an F1 on some back road, with the speedometer reading 200mph. Anyone have this picture? I first saw it in a Road & Track magazine close to 10 yrs ago now, but have rarely seen it since
You are most likely referring to this image. I don't have it any larger unfortunately, but if you find a copy of the Road&Track 1999 Calendar you should be able to get it from there. >8^) ER
#064 that was in Sweden but now in Japan <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
