Just listen to that Matra V12.
I was browsing the web checking out Alfa and the 1935 NRing GP when I came on youtube and found quite alot of thirties racing vids <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/amazed.gif"></A>
Cool, pleas post some good links.
One thing I always notice with these old practice session vids, there is so much position swapping. Drivers seem to inexplicably slow down and then come up to speed again behind other drivers in the process. It happens several times in that vid, such as at around 3:10 when he's coming out of the lesmos... lets several drivers past... then after the chicane he goes full throttle again and has to re-pass the other guys.
Just seems weird.
Nonetheless, nice vid indeed.
And I ditto the call for basman to post some of those vids.
Did you notice another thing?
There are no angry gestures at slower drivers, He simply drives round them.
i loved the trees being right there in the inside of ascari
ooh yeah, great find.
stuff like this:
http://youtu.be/GvwZLaKapjQ (listen to the crash sounds <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/tongue.gif"></A>)
and the fifties:
Matra was so a good team, beautiful technice
At 2:20, a really good sound is the old Ford engine in the McLaren M26 overtaking Laffite too!
A few seconds later you see Fittipaldi or Arrows car, with same engine, and you almost do not hear this (Ford) engine, probably funny.
But the Matra really sings like rock star!
I mean Ligier team, Matra engine
Here is M26 inside in Holand GP circuit, it really sounds diferent than other Ford engines
Love that sound.
One of my favourite Formula 1 cars ever, thanks for the vid man <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>
I love Zandvoort.
I hope that when a new GP comes onto the calendar again, they design a super high speed circuit mostly filled with long wide-radius corners and flat out sections with kinks and camber changes, the idea being that time should be gained by not getting out of the throttle as much as your competitors, rather than being on the brakes later and the throttle earlier.
Too many circuits on the calendar are tecnical in nature, there needs to be variety.
So, Talladega with a Chicane?
Just use the old classic AVUS.
Something more like old Spa or the Österreichring, but not as crazy dangerous.
HOLY #$%#ING SHIT @ 0.10 in the 3rd vid
i want the old hockenheim back.
The Österreichring pls. Jesus Christ what a great circuit.
Why can't Tilke at least design a new Boschkurve? We need that shit in F1.
