Artega GT vs. Porsche Cayman S

    by AutoBild

the article is titled: Porsche sees Red?

    just some key phrases:

The steering of the Artega is more direct than of the Porsche, with every turns it grows on you.

The Artega GT doesn´t have to hide behind the Porsche Cayman S.

The nav screen in the rear mirror is not unique, same comes with the Bugatti 16/4 Veyron.

Up to 100 km/h it stumbles over every bump, above that speed it´s becoming more comfortable to drive but mot as comfortable as the Porsche.

with 57.5 per cent of its weight on the rear axle it also shows some more oversteer than the Porsche, this is sport mode with ESP switched off and TC switched on.

Advanced drivers can select 4 modes with any combination of ESP and TC on/off.

More advanced drivers can drift with it.

The Artega GT is more dynamic than the Cayman S. And it si more comfortable as the Lotus Europa S.

The Artega GT and the Cayman S are closer as you may think as the instruments of the Porsche are made by Artega´s mother company Paragon (a supplier tot he automotive industry).

Playboy magazine alreday calls it "The Porsche Killer"

    >>> www.artega.de/uploads/_dokumente/11_2008_Playboy_Porsche-Killer_OK.pdf

some more details I lerned from that article:

the 3.6-litres FSI engine (Passat R36, Porsche Cayenne) and DKG tranny is the same as in the Passat CC, but with shorter gear ratios.

the bodywork is made from carbon fiber-reinforced Polurethan compsoute, a novelty in automotive industry

the DSG can be operated on automatic or manual mode with paddels shifters at the steering wheel.

in normal mode it behaves like a Gran Turismo

the storage of 300 litres, 75 litres under front hood, 225 litres behind tha passengers seats, even is sufficient for long distance travels

  14. not just comparing the power-to-weight ratios of the Artega GT and the new Ferrari California GT

    269 bhp/ton - Artega GT
    265 --- Ferrari California GT

but also the exterior, I see some similarities btween these two, just that the Artega GT doesn´t come with a retractable hard top and so is about 500 kgs lighter

  16. OK, the Artgea GT is much smaller, just as long as a VW Polo or Ford Fiesta with short overhangs in front and rear, the rear is as wide as a Mercedes S-class

it weighs about 500 kgs less but so needs "only" 300 bhp to achive the same power-to-weight ratio ast the California GT

it costs just about the half of the Ferrari but has no retractable hard top

it is more exclusive and even more ecological than the Ferrari

  17. cool car......like what a new lotus should look like

dont listen to these tools.....theres nothing wrong with white, as long as you have the proper wheels to contrast

  18. And looks much better too <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

    I love small cars..

  22. will have to find out myself how reliable it is

but I expect no problems caused by the VW V6 FSI engine and double-clutch semi-auto tranny, seems to be a perfect package to me

  23. i know, but a small manu will always have a few small problems compared to a company like porsche.

Personally, I think its worth it.

also: Can you get it in a proper manual or dual clutch only?

  24. 6-speed double-clutch semi-automatic only

  25. cool.

    you decide on color yet?

    plz dont get grey.
