I reckon the only thing wrong with old american cars, is that they look like land boats. But then again, thats what they are.

Indeed they are big. But is that such a bad thing? And according to your nickname, you also like these cars. The most famous lowriders, the Impala's, aren't that small cars either...

My dad had a 1976 Dodge Monaco - it wasnt as big as this car, but it had a 345ci V-8. It was loud, guzzled gas, and I loved it. But its dead now. <!-- Signature -->

excuse me, but I don't believe anything cadillac has ever made (last 30 years or so excepted) has ever sucked, least of all the eldo models

Why are there all of these old cars on SUPERcars.net now?<!-- Signature -->

  12. Re: why all the old cars?

old cars rock, thats y. from '55-'71 is when they actually knew how to build cars, they just didnt have the technology.

  13. Re: why all the old cars?

Because old cars were the supercars in their day. And today, they STILL turn heads. The quality is astounding in these beautys. Do you
see ANY chrome on any year 2000+ car today? Nope. Restating diabloman-
your absolutly right. The technology wasn't as good as now(DUH) but
the craftsmanship made up for it. And these cars had HORSEPOWER.
You see(or hear) this thing at a red light, you don't hear a pissy
little whine of a 4-banger... NO! Its a low menacing grumble of V8
power! And talk about CLASS! If you had this car, you were considered
to have a little extra pocket change - not every average joe could
afford one of these. Do you see any Civics or toyotas turning heads?
Only if they're 2 inches off the ground with tinted windows, silver
rear racing lights(which are the stupidest things on the planet) and
a wing that they ripped off the space shuttle!! This and other "old"
cars are the True automobiles. <!-- Signature -->

Oh yeah - if this site had only 'SUPER'cars - there would'nt be much content now would there? The reason that these "old" cars are here is because people should learn and be edjucated about these ledgends. And also - they are here to (hopefully) abolish ignorance about these cars. They MUST be remembered and respected.<!-- Signature -->

If you ask me, this car is a SUPERcar. Just look at it man...

All those who appreciate real fine engineering will agree with me. Anyone who looks beyond all the steel and chrome on this Caddy, and really understands the car, and thinks about it history, will agree with me/us.

  17. Re: why all the old cars?

sniper, I agree, and I'm sad that all the classic highlights have now dissapeared, or morphed into brittle plastic body panels, or bumper peices. Its a shame, but I would think that to maintain one of these monsters would have been quite tedoius over the years. And in today's frenzied lifestyles, people don't have time. Its a shame... Good thing museums were invented.<!-- Signature -->

  18. Re: why all the old cars?

Yes it's true what you say. These cars ask for a lot of attention and time. But there is still a small group of people who make time for these cars. So there's still hope for these oldies. Let's pray these people wont stop fighting time, sweat, hard work, the cost (it isn't cheap to maintain a car like this), taxes, and so on... It would be a shame seeing these cars dissapearing in this time of, like you said Felix, "plastic cars"...

  19. Re: why all the old cars?

If I was a smart engineer, I would synthicate "chrome" body panels - composed of cheap, but effective, strong alloys. They would look like chrome, but they would be not as expensive, and would be simple to mass produce. THAT would be cool.<!-- Signature -->

  20. Re: why all the old cars?

Indeed, but would that be sold? I mean, you don't see chrome anymore on today's cars... Yes maybe a Mercedes (the grille and so one). But I can't find another brand instantly wich still uses chrome.
It would be nice if you could make rims of it. They probably would be lighter and stronger then regular chrome.
    But hell, we are dreaming...

Well, it would definetly suit the new "old" cars (i.e. the Belair, and the Ford 49-which has utilized the style perfect!!) Those cars can't call themselves the classics reborn, without some chrome highlights. Mercedes does it well, as does BMW (with their grilles and all..) and even the CLK GTR - a purebred lemans racer if you ask me; still has the classic elagency of the company's roots. Its tradition, and should never dissapear.<!-- Signature -->

  23. Re: why all the old cars?

Saying "bump" - is just another way of bringing back the thread, without saying anything special. Its just for pushing a thread that you want others to see back to the top. But the mod's frown upon those who take advantage of the little rule, so dont go bump crazy.<IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"> <!-- Signature -->
