Umm, the base Vette's 0-60 time is 4.5 seconds. Also, it's a two seater, so please don't compare it to a four door/four seater.<!-- Signature -->

  4. I think I agree.........if its the 50th, shouldnt they have a LIMITED EDITION Vette Z06 with like 600 hp or something? Hell its Harley Davidsons 100th maybe they shoulda teamed up or something. I dont know....just my take on this 50th thing.

  5. I agree. I love the Vette. I don't care what other anus wipes say about it, but I am pissed that they didn't do something special. Well, maybe they still will. Maybe they will introduce a C-6R concept during the Le Mans season. That would be pretty f*ckin special. I think they should have at least for the 50th upped the standard Vette (non Z06 trim) to about 385 horses. You know, pretty much slot in where the Z06 began.<!-- Signature -->

  6. 50 years! thats a big accomplishment, not many cars can last 25 years.<!-- Signature -->

We got your point that you hate American cars (Vette included) but the Vette is a lot more comfy. And don't give us *FALSE* stats like an Elise doing 1.2 around a skidpad.<!-- Signature -->

  10. 50 Years...What an Accomplishment

It is an truly an amazing accomplishment for a car to last for 50 years with its original name AND original purpose still intact. I predict that this feat will become increasingly rare as time goes by. Let's just enjoy it while it lasts.

  11. Very correct, I hoipe that as time goes by the vette only continues to dominate as it is doing right now, I dont see any reason why it wouldnt.

  12. Dominate? Please explain.

  13. Yeah it is an amazing accomplishment and It will stay that way for many years to come...........This is a beautiful car and I wish to own one some day<!-- Signature -->

  14. Dominate-to beat all the other cars in its class.
I personally don't like Chevy's, but the Corvette is an amazing vehicle. For about $40,000 you get a two seat sports car with neck snaping acceleration, blindingly fast top speed, and world class handeling. There is nothing else in the world in this price range that do anything close to what the corvette does. I challenge you find another car for $40,000 that outperform the 'vette.

That, I believe, is what he means by dominate.

  16. I hate to bring up bang for buck because i know that it is going to start a huge debate, but by saying dominate i mean basicall ythis....

Right now in the automobile market in america and as far as i know world wide, there may be one other car that costs what this does that can do what this does. There are many cars as i am sure will be pointed out that are faster and better handling. People will bring up names like lamb and ferrarri and porsche and bugatti, and yes they all rock ass as far as cars go, but the rason that this car dominates, is because it competes directly in all categories except price with these automobiles. ITs handling acceleration, braking all are on par with exotics that cost many tens of thousands more.

Another reason that this car dominates is the fact that it has been here for fifty years and in that time as acrued quite a reputaion, history and lineage of INCREDIBLE cars. From the original back in 53 with that little 6 cyl, to the z06 and ZR1 of the nineties, L88 on the late 60's early 70's, 427 stingrays in the 60's, the list goes on and on. This car has always been about performance plain and simple.

45000 will get you a car with 350hp and 375 ft/lbs of torque, pulling .95 G on the skid, 4.5 0-60, 13.2 1/4, and many times reveered by critics and magazines and spectators alike, such as

motortrends 98 car of the year,

"corvette is a masterpiece" (motor trend),

"The fact that the Corvette runs so well at triple-digit speeds is a tribute to its high-tech pedigree" (Motor Trend),

"A world-class car at a bargain price" (motor Trend), "If. as they say, God is in the defails, then this is the first holy Corvette." (car and driver),
"Corvette...presses all of our livable and useful buttons with its relentless attention to detail and meticulous engineering." (car and dirver),
"Which brings us to another Corvette tradition that the C5 upholds: exotic-car performance at a moderate price. The least expensive production car weve tested that can outperform the C5 in the quarter-mile is the Dodge Viper RT/10, which costs $65,260." (car and driver),

I can go on and on, but no one will read it. These are the reasons that the corvette dominates. You will have one hell of a time finding a car that is the same price and can beat this car in anything stock vs stock. Good luck

  17. tailgate the cerbera is $50,000 + in britain (converted to us dollars) the vette is $42,000 as a base and for the zo6 it still only goes to $50,000 and it can only match the vette dispite weighing 800 lbs less and having more power the elise is $30,000 dollars and does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds it pulls less lateral g on the skid pad and only tops out at 130 mph or so the vette beats it in every category accept price ( the camaro beats it also) and even then if you import one to the US it will cost just as much as the vette. the closest any car comes to matching the vette is the BMW M3 it is a little slower and a little more expensive but it is as close as it gets. i am not saying the cerbera and elise suck they are both excelent cars the vette is just better, not just in performance but also in comfort after a test in i believe it was motor trend even the porsche 911 got second seat to the vette. (the editors were fighting for the vette keyes)

this car means one thing the Japanese cars will never have: Heritage.

It's been 50 years since the first Vette came out. The T-bird turns 50 as well in a few years, the Mustang will turn 40 in 2004. Each one has established itself as an all-american legend and I'm glad to see such revered sports cars in the showrooms of dealerships everywhere, each one being an object of lust and desire.

The Vette (and GM's F-bodies) are deffinitely the best bang for the buck out there.<!-- Signature -->

  19. well this car is a disapointment. the corvette is by far the best sports car for the money. however typical of gm they have done nothing special with this car. it does not have more horsepower and looks to be magnetic red or the 40th anniversary color. it has special badging and seats, so what. they should have made at least a few Z06's. the 35th camaro looks better with the stripes and all. gm has #$%#ed up yet another great moment in one of the flagship cars.

The only reason the lotus elise is 25k is because its a piece of crap. The only good Lotus is the V8 Espirit.
Plus the Vette has more hp, and better acceleration not to mention handling<!-- Signature -->

Hey, don't forget, the Lotus Elise is illegal in the U.S. You have to go to Britain to get your hands on one, or import it. Either way, you won't be driving it in the U.S. very long, unless you don't mind having it impounded or confiscated.<!-- Signature -->

  22. Ok some of you need to keep in mind that we don’t all live in the USA so importing this car would automatically make it more or as expensive as cars like the elise or cerbera.
And the reason corvettes cost less than exotics is in part because the performance (though comparable) aren’t better than the majority of exotic cars. But the main reason is that this car lacks luxury and the prestige that comes with a handmade European exotic. Handmade with the best materials and custom made hand stitched Italian leather seats + a whole lot of options not found in the Corvette is what makes the price difference so big.

  23. i think this arguement will never end, one guy's saying that the vette sucks and one guuy says its the best car on earth, well your both wrong. you have understand the circumstances some people dont care for luxury items and some do, the vette is the best ALL OUT performance car for its money on earth no doubt about it, but look at the luxury, it had barely any thats why its so cheap, sure it has more then most of the cars we drive, but not to what most people compare it to. If you want the best ALL round sports car the 911 Turbo is the car, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, 4 seats (sorta, but atleast it has them), AWD (better grip, and accel off the bat), the BEST hp/milage ratio out of any car electric or gas, the car will last you a life time (and no im not joking), its a porsche, and best of all it is VERY reasonably priced at 111k, ohh yeah i forgot to mention it has LOADS of luxury itmes, WICKED sound system, it can be equiped with THE best handling and braking system on earth, and ohh yeah VERY exotic looks, but i have to give props to gm for making what trtuley is a legend, so plz guys no matter how "bad" a car might seem dont bash it, because one cars loss is anothers gain.<!-- Signature -->

  24. I guess its ok but for 50th b-day shouldnt they do something special to it??<!-- Signature -->

Um...which Cerbera..just curious. Handles like a tractor? Yeah, thats why it can get lap times like a 911. It not because of the straits, especially when we are talking Laguna Seca the second half of that course is mean as all hell. The Idea of my freinds $4000 total DSMs slaughtering Civics with near that much invested in body work makes me laugh. I could get many cars to beat this around a track, so what? Aftermarket is not really anyway to judge a car in this case. If a 5.0 Stang beats a 4.5 Cerbie, does that make it a better car? NO. Same thing here.
Don't get all pissed off, I'm not bashing you, I'm explaining why your wrong.<!-- Signature -->
