959 vs. F40

personly.. for me.. the 959...(ameasce is going to kill me )
Technicaly I think the 959 is way superior, but the Ferrari money-machine has the looks!
I think it would be the F40, on points
F40 or 959....i really dont know...i admire that much power out of a 3 litre, but the ferrari is so great. i think the ferrari, as im a ferrari fan.
The 959 would win totally.
What?!?!?!? F40 is faster, whit an incredibly handling!! Fiorano's circuit: F40 1'29"6; 959 (unofficial time, of course...) app. 1'36"5!!
0-200 F40 11"3-11"6s
959 was a very great supercars, and very comfortable, but, for me, f40 is better.
The F40 all the way, any Ferrari over any Porsche for me.
so ferrari let someone drive a 959 around fiorano and it finished 7 seconds behind the F40's time. and you believe this was a fair comparison? dont be so naive. the 959 was probably driven by a ferrari employee who was easing off. it just doesnt make any sense. theres no way in hell that ferrari would let a 959 test on fiorano and even less chance that the 959 would finish behind the F40
actaually the 959 is faster, i had a movie of an F40 doing the 1/4 in a time of 13.36 seconds, as it raped a supra, so im sorry but this will kill an f40.

Who is faster?
on a dragstrip or a course with lots of straights and no really tight sections, the 959 would win, but on a tighter course the F40 would whoop it, i'm afraid. because it had such an advanced 4-wheel-drive system, smaller tires were put on the 959, giving it less lateral grip than the F40. in the wet, it would probably be very close on tight circuits.
Ok, great power is not ahndling, but great traction is not handling too! F40 is not an all-day supecar, is like a Formula 1: very sport ( and hard) suspension, no comfort (80Db @ 100kmh!!) very light (1420kg with fuel, driver and Correvit, 959 is 1350 with nothing!!!!), great Pzero tires created for F40's spec. (is very important..), not bad Cx (0.338) with very good Cz (-150kg @ 300kmh), very good brakes (200-0 kmh 148m: 1.05g; 959 200-0kmh 160m: 0.97g)!! 959 was a great supercr, but was not creates for "best lap".
The F40 any time, it's way faster, 320 km/h, but the porsche is still a great car, but not as impressive as an F40.

Even with the smaller tires, don't you think you'd be better off with AWD? The Porsche would accelerate out of the corners better, especially because it has Torsen diffs, not crappy Viscous limited slip ones. As they say, "slideways is slower," and the F40 would go sideways if you floored it around a corner.
a 959 would smoke a f40
Is this a serious question? I can't believe people are actually arguing this. The F40 destroys the 959 on top speed (324kmh to 314kmh), 0-60(3.8 to 4.1), and looks. Ferrari always tops Porsche. When the F60 comes out it will kill the Carrera GT too. Its very cut and dry to me.
Porsche 959 would win any day
They both have their strong points. . .I'm not taking any sides. Considering this only has a flat 6 and the Ferrari F40 has a V12 and they put out about the same power, i think that Ferrari loses that battle, but the F40 is lighter, handles better, and accellerates quicker, so i guess the F40 would win, but I don't know, I'd have to see the race.
Porsche 959, because it is a legend, and its AWD will give it more speed and control than a Ferrari. Sure, the Ferrari may be a BIT faster, but that doesn't make it better than the 959. I prefer the 959's styling over the F40's, though the F40 was my favorite car after I stopped liking the 959, for a long time.
Both are great cars. Of course Porsche fans will say that 959 will smoke F40 and vice-versa. But I am unparcial and having in mind everything I read about these cars, it looks that they have closed performance but very different behaviors. The Porsche is easier to drive and uses lots of technology. Ferrari is harder to drive (and so it gives more pleasure to do it), and is basically a powerful engine on a lightweight body. If I had that "terrible" mission of choosing between them I'd first need to know how the car would be used. If it was a car to use everyday I'd choose the Porsche, but ifit was a weekend car, I'd go with the Ferrari.
Some logic and intelligence! Finally! =)
Two of my favorite cars... I don't want to decide.
But I know all porsche's have awesome handling, slower they say than the ferrari....
I'd pick porsched anyday. Little twinturbo6 vs V12 HA!
I'll take the porshce!

Geez, someone like ferrari a lot. The 959 was a feat of technology. It's also a lot easier to drive in everyday conditions, or hell, make it a rally car and kick some ass too. Find me a ferrari that does that. Also, destroys is a little hard of a work to describe 10 km/h top end difference, and it's not like anyone here that is sane would see that anyways. #3, Ferrari doesn't often top Porsche, check your racing history. When Porsche wanted something, it happened. I think the Carrera GT will destroy the F60, because YOU could drive it and not die. That's really what it's about for Porsche: giving you as much fun as they think you can handle. The fact that they're making a 550hp car that they say is an everyday driver, means they know what they're doing.
both are great cars...if i had to choose it would be the 959
