  2. GTHO: I would not be supprised if Tickford have thier own t-series version of the turbo vct dohc IL6.

    This is how id like things to end up
    xr6 = 200kw dohc IL6
    xr8 = 250kw 5.4L v8
    T6 (a name that might be good for turbo 4L t-series) = 240kw
    TU (tickford ute) = 275kw 5.4L v8

    TL " " "
    GT = 310kw 5.4
    GTHO = 350kw 600nm stroked 5.8L DOHC v8

    Also I hope ford import the RS focus and the cosworth focus in 2004 aswell as the terminator mustang in 2002/2003.

    P.S get that heap of cougar crap out of fte. its a rebadged murcury which needs a turbo or the axe. Axe i think it will be.

     
  3. Sony Xplod Sound System? You guys think thats sweet? WHAT? Sony's car stereo's, well theres no other way to say it,they suck dick. Xplods are crap. In my opinion, JL Audio all the way. They're stuff isn't too expensive, and all they're stuff is competition ready. They're W3 8's are graded A+ in loudness and clarity. They also came out with a new w7 series that has a 6 inch throw. As far as mids go, JL XR Component Set is top of the line, well, w/o getting to expensive. Sony makes crappy head untis, crappy mids/tweeters, and have you ever heard sony Xplod subs? they sound like me taking a shit after i ate 6 taco bell chalupas.

    Hey dickhead....no actually I didn't need to call you that, you're a Holden fan and that alone will tell everybody you're a dickhead without me actually having to say so!! MOTOR mag judged XR8 to be superior to SS and the 220kW TE50 better than 255kW Clubsport and Ford DID make both these cars, and if you disagrree, go email MOTOR and they will tell you the same thing I just have!! If you can actually come up with one single argument or piece of evidence besides "Holden has more power" and even that only applied to its V8 and would not be the case net year anyway, I'll be happy to hear it and it would only take me 5 sec to nail your sorry ass with a hail of evidence that Ford is better thatn crappy Holden!!!!

    Yo dickhead, just a note, If you're accusing ford of sticking thier name on something they did not make, try looking at Holden first. Ever wonder where the Vectra, Astra, Zaifra, Barina, and Jackaroo come from?? Try Opel and Isuzu!! Holden import these cars and stick thier badge on them then sell them. Get your facts straight you dumb plonker!!
     
  7. Here's a good BASIC setup for a good system(Provided you use decent equipment. This excludes Sony, Kenwood, Jensen, Pyramid, etc.)

    6.5" or 7" Component set in the front
    6.5" coaxials in the back
    2 x 12", dual 4 ohm voice subz in the back ran in a 2 ohm Stereo setup
    3/4" MDF sealed box for 2 x 12" subs
    Good amps that don't clip or distort and provide ample power
    Large 2 channel amplifier for the subs
    Medium 2 channel amplifier for the component set
    /or Small 4 channel amplifier for the component set
    Small 2 channel amplifier for the coaxials
    & a good deck w/ triple high-voltage preouts.

    Now this is just basic stuff which is all people usually need. Also, as the internal amplifiers in decks usually tend to be useless for everything but radio, you want to use external amplifiers to attain the best sound quality out of your system.

    Let's take a look at a typical Rockford Fosgate system(I personally don't like RF, but they make good stuff other than the Punch Z subs.)

    Now that is a system that would make you want to drive your car all the time & it would probably cost you just as much as the shizzy system of this car*. OK, now, you may ask why I'm underpowering the speakers. The reason I recommend those amplifiers is two-fold, to save on cost, and because Rockford alwayz underrates the power of their amplifiers. Of course, I don't really recommend Rockford for guyz like me because I'm a real sound quality guy, but Rockford is still pretty good for that. I personnally like Infinity Perfect for subs, Soundstream Exact for speakers, Pioneer Premier & Alpine for decks, & MTX Audio for amps. For most people, though, Rockford is great. I guarantee this system does well over 140 dB and will have good SQ if installed properly. Now, let's say they use the best Sony equipment w/ the same setup. Only a good install would get you DECENT SQ, and I seriously doubt it would reach 140 dB w/ 2 x 12s from the basic Xplod line of subs, but the Xplod ES line(That are actually worse than the basic Xplod line when it comes to lower frequencies) would, probably, barely make it over 140 dB. Sorry, actually this system makes it up to 147 dB w/ 2 ES 12s.

  14. Well being an Import Guy/Car Audio Guy I'm not to sure about this one being that Sony is quite the entry level equipment through an Eclipse sound setup in there and it would blow your mind

    Also if this was besigned by a Japanese company it wouldn't put in a 470HP V8 5.0L it would through in something like a 470HP I4 2.2L (Trust me on this one), not very efficient of the Americans is it?

    Being from Vancouver I've seen all sorts of done out cars and it seems that a modded Rice Rocket would eat a modded Gas Guzzler So shut up about it is a total Rice Burner or what ever you called it<!-- Signature -->
     
  15. That engine is a stroked 302 windsor to 347ci by Rob Herrod in Melbourne Australia. Although it wont go into production, the 35th anniversary Falcon GT should see the introduction of the new 5.4L modular unit from the states get well over 300kw (400hp) for some real HSV tearing fun. For those of you in Australia grab yourself a copy of the December 2001 MOTOR with that magnificent 500nm moster on the front cover. Yes TS50 as MOTOR claim it to be "TICKFORDS HSV-SLAYING 250 kW T-SERIES STROKER"

    Fords been around a bit longer than Holden, and when you look at it Fords are way better than Holden.

    The good old 60s-70s and even earlier cars are #$%#ing mad. Old Ford T-birds and GTs have just as much horsepower as new cars yet shit on them for torque.

    Sony do have sucky stereo components yes, but they do look good, and its a demo car. therfore people see mad gear in a mad ass beefed up Ford and they go out and buy

    T-Series III with 250kW 5.6 V8 is gonna cane Holden/HSV ... don't see why it isn't here!! Even though its 5 kW short, it has wayy more torque.

    And oh yeah ... low-pressure turbo 6-cylinder Falcons are coming out with the AV Falcon next year <IMG SRC="http://www.supercarforums.com/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif"> SWEET. Even in HSV form, Holden has only got 180kW from its supercharged V6...and Ford will probably have 180 for its basic Falcons.

    Holdens are gone.

     
  21. I love all cars, so I'm not going to argue about imports vs. domestics.... even though anyone with any automotive sense knows that imports are slower. Anyway, I think someone needs to find the designers of this cars and give'em a couple slaps in the face. Why is it that every new car or concept that looks like a winning number always have to have four doors? Some of the best new ideas are given the worst possible feature. And it's not just this XR8 concept. The Subaru WRX, Dodge Charger concept, Mazda RX-8...and a bunch more I can't think of right now. I hate sedans! This makes me so #$%#ing mad!
     
  22. Beautiful car, the XR8....looks mean, especially in this colour scheme...and what's wrong with four doors? Makes slipping into the rear seats a whole lot easier.

    Besides, when you really think about it, it's funny how a decrease in practicality (removing two doors, ie Monaro) makes a car more desirable. Just another small psychological oddity.

    Can hardly wait to see the AV XR8 Falcon - i hear it pumps out power figures around the 250 kw mark. 250kw from a refined sub-AUS$50K car (about 25K in US dollars) - a lot of horses for your dollar. Supposedly looks agressively awesome, too.

    Good to see Ford are going to let Holden do the chasing for a change.
     
  23. theres no way you can compare r8 to TS50/TE50. the power challanged (220kw) t-series was the better allround car than the 255kw r8. The latest t-series is lighter produces the same power and has an extra 25nm mrowe than the r8 while is will handle alot more competently. That mustang gar box is better than thr t56 shifter in the HSV. With what I said above, i reckon the ts50 stroked would give the gts a good run for its omney on the track as it only has 10 less nm torque, the quoted power is probably pesimistic, its lighter and would handle better.

    Next year is gonna see ford kicking holden pretty much eveywhere. next year the xr6 will be just as fast as an ss when it gets its turbo charged 6!

  25. NFS racing you wont see the 4.6 go in any falcon atall. anyone see wheels time for t3? 0-100 6 seconds flat and 400 metre sptint in 14.1 seconds.
