1. the McLaren F1 LM is 5.1 seconds faster in the 0-100 than a turbo Supra somebody say ass whoopin again

  2. I agree that the McLaren would eat this and American cars alive, but it is far out of the price range we are talking about here.

America doesn't export cars because the rest of the world is POOR! -j/k. I hate to get into pointless arguements about US v. the world b/c they are pointless. But I must agree with the efficiency of imports. I would buy an import (except for a mitsubishi (they made the engines for the Jap Zero that killed many Allies in WWII)) over an American car almost any day. I drive a Honda right now. The only thing keeping me from buying another Eastern car is the types of people who drive them, i.e. boy racers. I admire the amount of time and money wasted, but I don't get off to your fart car. I also want a car that has class and demands respect, and a Jap car doesn't do that.
I find that many people who have posted are very irrational; an economist's nightmare if you will. I personally would rather have a Viper (so I could sell it and buy a new RX-7).

  4. I just checked the quickest 0-60 times and the fastest Production car was the Dodge Hennessy Viper Venom 800TT with 2.7 secs. Mclaren Made it with2.9 and the first japanese car a modified skyline came at 3 sec flat. Sorry for the dissapiontment import fans.

  5. I heard McLaren was American owned. Is that true?

  6. Just curious, to any non-Americans, do you break out in fits of laughing when you see these?? "Here the Yanks go again. Everyone says their piece and then feels all proud cause they think they changed someones mind. Only to go on to the next forum and OH SURPRISE SURPRISE! THEY'RE AT IT AGAIN!" God Bless the ol' US of A and our great ability to accept others ideas.

BS. Pure BS. A lot of Mechanics know a thing or two about cars, they like domestics. The fact is that you are close minded. I get the impression you would compare a M5 to a Mustang and say: Better HP/litre, better handling, more refined. Ford Sucks. And you would be wrong. Know why? The M5 is about 70K. The GT is about 25K. Thats why. Dont state the obvious and then support your biased veiws with it. Yes, the M5 is better than the GT. No, noone cares. Domestics, when compared to their competition in terms of price (AKA a fair comparo) do just fine.

When you go upto someone with a nice car what do you say?
"how much HP are you making out of that engine?" think about it noone cares about anything else.

but ever form of motor racing in the world (except BS nascar) includes braking and cornering....

I think that a comparison should be taken on a road course...

if a 1977 POS Ford , Dodge or whatever you think is so fast beats a import that you think is fair to compare it with....then I will give you all credit.

You are a borderline racist. Your actually saying that all Americans are ignorant. A very smart man said that we criticize that which we hate the most in ourselfs. I'm American. Guess what my next car is? A AWD turbo inline 4. Whoops there goes that theory. More examples? ALMS. The fact that there are hundreds, no thousands of import shops in this courty, where it would be better, in terms od 1/4 mile performance, to go with huge big blocks all the time. How about the clubs for all types of car here. How about that damn movie Fast and the Furious? It was crap, but it was a huge exibition of exagerated car handling feats. Made to sell to American 16 year olds. How about a 2002 Chevy Corvette beating an NSX around Laguna Seca? Credit please.

A car is unreliable if you use cheap parts and have poor designs. America is a money-hungry country and they'll do anything to save money. Using cheap parts and mass-producing is one way. The Japanese and Germans don't cut corners. They don't want their cars to be crap. Japan and Germany have complete different ethics in comparison to America. I guess the way of life models how people think, and therefore, how they build their cars. Alot of people don't hate American cars just because of prejudice. They hate them cause they know American cars suck. Besides, Americans shouldn't feel they should be the greatest in everything.

Yet more unsuppoted BS. Go read a consumer repots. All companies cut corners once in awile, except perhaps those that are not massproducing cars. Its just so cool to think all things American are evil and we are just a bunch of slobs and....
But you cant back it up for crap, or you did not bother. What does that make you? Either lazy or a liar, or both. You don't know crap about cars by the looks of it, and so you resort to this vague lying to make your point.

  10. I want it to be known that I have nothing against imports. They are fast and handle really well. I jsut get pissed at all the people that are so narrow minded they think that imparts are the only fast cars out there. When the truth is that all of this extra performance everybody thinks they are getting they pay way to much for. My preforance is in the Old Muscle Cars. But everybody has a right to thier own opinions.

  11. I agree Goatboy. All these people do not understand that imports aren't the best. They aren't the only thing out there... Many mindless people are so caught up in their "new import" cars that they don't realize a big block 60-70's muscle car can contend with it. And that is from 30 years ago!

  12. Jesus Christ. Everyone shut the hell up. Domestics and Imports are both awesome. If you were a true lover of automobiles you'd accept both. Do I like Corvettes? Hell yeah, do I like Supras? Hell yeah. Do I like Camaros? Well, not really, they are overrated. But I do like a healthy number of both. So why don't you guys just shut up about the old Domestics vs Import crap and just accept both. So what, a Twin Turbo Corvette can blow away an NXS T, and so what, an RX7 can completely tear apart an SVT Mustang on any sort of hairpin. So let's just say this: If you have lots of money and you are looking for a car to buy and drive and be fast and awesome, buy yourself a corvette. If you want a car that is relatively inexpensive but you want to hook it up and have a good variety of aspects, buy an Eclipse and prepare to spend money. God some people piss me off.

Too true, they all have their assets and deficiencies. But the Corvette was a stock Z06 vs a NSX. I had to clear that up. My point would have been invalid otherwise. Thankyou.

  15. Goatboy you are very ignorant. I believe they are all good cars, just people favor one over the other should not give them the right to dog on the others. Please dont call all imports ricer buring piece of shits, they are not and I also find it very offensive. I do have a friend that does have a Viper and he does burn my Rx7 and also my friends SupraTT in road courses but then I only paid close to $15K for my RX and my friend paid $25K for his Supra (we did not pay $80K) and you get what you paid for(Excluding taxes of course hehehahahah, cause they will always $*%^ you). People keep talking about tuning this and tuning that, but the whole thing is about IMPORT VS. DOMESTIC and NOT Tuned DOMESTIC VS. Tuned IMPORTS. When we step into tuning then everything gets too complicated. Like I said in my last post, I like both import and domestic and both have great cars and bad ones. Covettes are GREAT cars for performance and it's track abilities, anyone who think they only go stright need to go the dealer and test drive one or maybe test drive your friends. Imports also have great cars and who cares they are force induction engines they still run great so be it.

I agree with someone who said that most NA cars should not be turbo charged, because they do get very unreliable if done so. But if you dont mind spending the money, by all means do it, you just might find that you will have to redo practically the whole engine just to make it run safely. Go to the track some times and I dont mean the 1/4mile track, real track or maybe participate in a Sanctioned event and you will find out that the HP and 1/4 mile time is not the decieding factor for a performance car. THe most I consider is the RELIABLITY of the car, if your car never cross the finish line then you lost the race no matter how fast your car is compared to the one next to you.

In the End all come to this equation: Speed = Money, how fast do you want to go.

  16. very well put FD3STTurbo21 i feel the same about all cars. wether they are imports or domestic cars if they are fast who cares where they come from. i bought an acura but, my favorite car is the viper. seems a little bit odd but i am also asian.

  17. Man they have sum idiots here. I thought this was about the RX 7 & now we talking about Vipers, Skylines, Vettes, Hemis etc. Skyline does not have 1200hp factory it doesn't even have 300hp. Also Skylines are ugly. They may preform well & have the capability of high outputs but plian & simple they are ugly. Vipers can't handle but in a straight line they are monsters straight from the factory.Just like the old muscle cars of America. And even better at a stand still sittin at the Lake Front the Viper is a beauty. Americans do use these huge engines. They put out way more torque & less strain on the engine at high speeds. Big Blocks are the American way. If we could fit a 1000 cubic inch 20 liter engine in a car. woo hoo.
Back to the RX 7 though DAM' these cars are just plain beautiful. Oh yeah Hondas, Toyotas & Nissans don't have rotary engines so leave ya lil 4bangers & 6 cylinders out of this. I seen in a magazine where a guy put a custom built rotary in his RX 7 & was capable of 10second quarter miles without nitros & he still had A/C & pwr windows. And I watched this show called Detroit vs. Imports (thats what I thought this post was about) And the RX 7 KILLED everyone the final race had the RX 7 run 9.3 seconds & all cars were street legal but it had nitros though.
The only thing this car needs is gull wing doors those would be so sweet on this car

  18. okay, i think its pretty obvious that no one will win, but just to clear things up and not start a dang war:
imports are more pointed to speed in a relatively small space, but don't have much hp b/c, face it, they don't need it.
domestic cars don't have the small engines b/c the American way is to keep the engines large yet powerful. so, to sum this all up, lets just say with any amount of money and patience, any import can beat/lose to any domestic car. It's Final!!!!!!!!

  20. Well first of all the Stagea was heavily modified so lets invite a heavily modified Viper, lets just say a Hennessey 800tt for shits and giggles the Autech Stagea runs a 12.9 second 1/4 while the Hennessey 800tt runs a 10.7 a 2.2 second lead and in the 1/4 thats a pretty decent lead. sorry try again.

  21. why are u comparing cars which are in completely different classes?

  22. Sure want to continue with modified, no problem, Lets compare any of your Hennesseys to Godzilla, 0-60 in 1.4 1/4 in 8's or low 9's
