HSV GTS Coupe could beat this.. This car is pretty piss poor for the ammount of horsepower it generates. An HSV GTS coupe would destroy this car around a track. Even the HSV SV300 would cane this. All the japs know how to do is crank up the horse power but they forget about what really matters, The torque. R34 Skyline's handle like shit. I would love to see one of these cars try and compete at bathurst, especially against an HRT commodore.
Hahaha .. HSV GTS cant even beat a stock skyline r-34 gtr (check this month's Wheels issue). Around a track Skyline would kill and Commodore or Monaro whatever version CV8, GTS or even Corsa Mondo GT!! As for Bathurst, Skyline's were banned in early 1990's because they were too good!! They won just about every competition, they were too good, so they banned them... A Japanese GT Championship Skyline would rip the HRT's .. Monaro is a nice lookin car, but it cant compete with r-34 gtr, and especially a Blitz Skyline!! <!-- Signature -->

I am a holden lover but mate, why do you think its called the r348???? I mean come on i love the olden holden but, this car was designed for top speed AND track racing??? 850hp V8 Supercars (aussie tourers) only have 650 for starters!!! this car was supposed to reach 348 km/h!! you know I've got a Wheels magazine that compares that exact same Holden (300kw) up against a R-34 V-Spec II Skyline (206kw). And to put it simply to you the skyline eat it up alive, at 0-100km/h, at the 1/4 and at top end. I can even tell you the month this wheels magazine was released, April 2002. Game, set and match

Ure holden has 300Kw from like a 5.7L V8, and goes 0-100km/h in like 5.7sec, and don't try to claim otherwise. Don't diss japanese cars cause u think ure cool with ure mates, and ure cool, n Aussie. I'm an Aussie and i know that Japanese cars beat the sh!t out of ANY Australian cars and merican,geraman ALOT. why would you ick a skyline for a race car. the only thing that you keep for the car you race with is basicly it body style, everything else is changed(in hardcore racing). the skyline has one of the worst coeff. drag specs I have ever seen.
the engine remains. its a pretty good car. its nurburging time bests that of a viper, the r33 preproduction version was stock as well. the time was about 10 seconds ahead of that of the viper. the skyline employs one of the most advanced awd systems ever (this of course is taken out for JGTC, but nevertheless), and its engine extremely responsive to modifcation and durable. yeh the drag coefficient is bad, but this car is more of a super sport sedan. its quite a good car
it is a nice car, but I have heard that in most racing secnarios they use rear wheel drive in the skylines. is this true. also i think the awd system is like the active steering managment in corvettes.(asm) it is very nice for the every day driver, but when it comes to hardcore cornering it is not better than a good driver.( atleast that is the way it is in the corvette)
yes in jgtc they use rwd for better flexibility. if anything i think the awd setup in this car is comparable to the one used in the porsche 911 turbo. it splits the torque front and rear and functions as a rwd vehicle during normal operation and the front wheels come in when it senses traction loss. i think it also has four wheel steering. i have seen the engine in this transplanted to the supra for better aerodynamics of the supra while maintaining the skyline's flatter torque curve. in any way the engine is very strong, able to handle up to 800 horses on stock internals. i think mark levinson (the sound guy that makes those expensive sound systems and for all the lexuses) owns a r33 spec V that's tuned to about 500 horses. but in the main point this forum was the post if a holden could beat this car, which it couldnot.

Mate go and do some reading. The Skyline GTR is basically a race car made for the road. The sole purpose for putting GTR into production was a result of homologation in racing. As the R32 GTR called the godfather of GTR's was developed and engineering and breed from race tracks for the sole purpose of winning races. And it did that. It did it so good that in the previous Japanese Group A racing championships (now becoming the JGTC)it won almost every single race in the championship that eventually no one wanted to race it anymore. A factor why Group A was changed to JGTC with new racing regulations. How would u know they handle like shit, have u ever been in 1? they're awd which means they piss on the HRT Commodore. How could a holden handle so good when they weigh 1700kg+ and have a lead block in the front. In GTP the Evos, WRXs and 200sx's shit all over the HSV GTS despite the HSVs 100kw+ power advantage.
