  2. well said Bukem, I agree on the sound of the engine, definately not a V-8. <!-- Signature -->

  6. Very nice video man. Amazing how that 170 hp Elise kept up with a 560 hp F-40. Only in he straights the Elise lost distance, but caught up when the F-40 had to brake early for a turn. Beautifull. This proves that horsepower is much, but not everything...

  7. What the hell are you guys talking about !!???

The F-40 ATE the Lotus....and furthermore the F-40 had slow down cause there where other cars in the way....And we don't know
anything about the drivers....because maybe the F-40 driver suck.

anyone who endorses GM products doesn't know shiet and should be shot. who cares which car is faster, they are both unbelievably quick and the video is great!<!-- Signature -->

  9. The F40 did not eat the Lotus at all. The little car was on his ass the whole race. The F40 driver had to be quite consistent. If tires or some other mechanical factor came into play, or if the F40 driver screwed up, it is entirely plausible that the F40 would lose its lead and not get it back. The Elise will have a huge advantage over the F40 in terms of tire wear, and possibly break fade, though, both likely have great breaks. I am impressed.<!-- Signature -->

  10. wow...great video! i'm impressed by that little elise. it showed real great handling. however, it is clear that it can't handle the f-40 on the straights...although it didn't really beat the f-40, there is NO SHAME at all to lose. i mean just compare their engines! not to mention the price...

and i know this may sound a little bizzar...but if the driver of the elise was a little more aggressive (i.e. not letting the f-40 cut back in before turns), i think the elise can actually beat the f-40! watch closely for the turns, and you'll see what i mean.

if i were offered take one between the f-40 and the elise, i'd choose both ;) they're all good....

  11. I would like to see the stock lotus vs Mustang cobra R video, the cobra did not even stand a chance with only 400 hp of american power.

  12. depends on the track. overall the F40 would destroy the lotus elise, just doenst have enough guts over 100kph<!-- Signature -->

  13. Any american muscle fan should not even reply to this thread

because they dont understand the class and caliber of these cars..

if they compare any of these cars to something like a :

    Corvette Z06 (total Garbage)
    Viper (Magical amount of garbage)
Mustang (just a joke...more garbage than the rest)

they have no idea what this is about

  14. Maybe it was an EliseGT1. That car also has about 500/600 BHP. You never get to see the outside of the car so I reckon it was one of those.<!-- Signature -->

  15. If, in fact, it was an Elise GT1, then the F40 would stand no chance at all. Think about it... 500-600 bhp in a super-lightweight compact roadster body, compared to 450-500 horses in a big ol' Ferrari body.

  16. oops... 560 bhp on the F40. Still, you get the picture. :)

So fans of American cars should not reply to this thread. I love Americans cars. I agree that the Mustang and Viper are not stellar, but the Z06 is great. But as you can tell I like the elise. I see what it is all about, pure driving experience. Sure there are some idiots here that talk shit about imports and say the mustang or viper rules all, but there is an equal amount making generalizations about American cars, like you. People need to realize that it does not matter who makes it, it is the car.

  18. Ohh, and it was a elise 111s, I do not know how much it was tuned though. It was definetly not the GT1, that car does not have a twin-turbo v-8, it has a inline four. Listen to the sound of the engine.

S2's right. I spoke with a guy who knows the driver, (he's French). Its a stock 111s with a lightened flywheel and a Hurricane airbox - not sure what rubber he was using - probably Yoko A539s...

The Ferrari driver wasn't trying too hard, if you listen he is short shifting. He's able to go higher on the banking because of the F40's superior power (higher up the banking means more speed). I'm not sure how much of a set up the whole thing was - everything else on track seems to be on an in-lap - all going plenty s-l-o-w...

  20. Yeah I s'pose u r right. Not a V8...<!-- Signature -->

  21. "The Ferrari driver wasn't trying too hard, if you listen he is short shifting"

    great catch Bukhem

you guys payed too much attention on how the elise was trying to keep up with the F40, did you all see how the elise put other supercars behind it??? I cant wait till they get to the US. Lotus all the way<!-- Signature -->

  22. Even if the lotus could not win, the lotus is still an amazing piece of mechanic, it could hardly be any faster for the price.

  23. That was one ill avi kid ... I really do have better understanding of f40 and 190 sad to see those porsches doing so poorly thought... I like this new body syle I still think the elise is very underpowered but it works for a day to day sports car its no viper or 911 but it looks like a lot more fun than a Mazda Meita

    Well spotted.
For a moment I thought this was a direct rival of the Viper.
