Ford's 5.4L will produce 310KW-330KW in T-series spec when released later this year. I'm sure some Holden people will say "so what? The HSV already has 300KW" but the HSV has a higher (5.7L) capacity. HSV have admitted they won't have anything more than 300KW to challenge the T-series Falcons as it would take at least 12 months to fully test the 350KW 6.2 litre V8 to make it ready for production. HSV admit the only way they will beat the top spec 5.4L is to run a higher capacity engine than Ford - just like they have done since the VR Commodore. The Hillier brothers have now developed the Arrow Falcon coupe with a 6.4L 16 valve pushrod Ford V8 (based on a very bored and stroked 302 windsor I believe - a 3.85 inch crank - the T series have 3.4 inch cranks) with 370KW. Imagine how much more it would make with a 6.2L bored and stroked version of the new 5.4? Enough to blow the 6.2L HSV V8 away I would think. It is reported the XR8 will have around 260KW from its version of the 5.4L - it's closest competitor on price will be the SS Commodore which will have only 225KW.
