And for the venom 800TT. 2.6 seconds on drag slicks a and a twin turbo charger. Imagine what honda could do with 8 Liters and a twin turbo.

  5. Everyone everyone gather round. I am about to tell you about the sickest showing of the Supra ever. Go on morpheus and download "Getaway in stockholm 2" it kicks so much ass. It is a supra flying around the freeways and streets of Stockholm, the camera is mounted on the bumper of an Escort Cosworth, both cars tuned to around 450 hp. Check it out for the love of God. These drivers are my heroes . It is so funny to see the police cars get blown by. Tell me if you've seen it, you will be one of the lucky few...

  8. HP/L and a Quarter will get you a cup of coffee....

possibly the most useless thing that can describe anything about a car. It is about as useful as saying the inside of my muffler is diamond studded. doesn't say anything about the fuel economy, power, torque, weight... anything.<!-- Signature -->

  9. well, i think it does matter.... considering anyone could mount a truck engine in their car and make it go fast, jap cars can do the same with a small engine, think-- S2000 can pump out 120 hp/L (while being N/A), while viper gets about 60, depending on model.... if a honda sticks in a V8 in it's car, imagine what it could do, it would rock your vipers ass.

if this, if that, bla bla bla no one says they can't put in larger engines for their exports, and the fact is that they don't, so why speculate about something that is only in your little imagination.

Sure the S2000 can pump out 120 HP/L but what kind of fuel economy does it get? Worse than the Corvette Z06 that has nearly double the HP and only weighs 300 more LBS. By your logic if they made a 4L v8 with that 120 HP/L to match the power of the viper you would get 14 MPG compared to the 18 that the viper gets. Good trade off? i don't think so.

Really, unless you are in a displacement limited racing class what good is the HP/L number. On the street if you are against something with obviously more power and a car that is nearly the same weight what good is it if you have more HP/L? NONE. All that matters in performance is HP, mass of the vehicle and distribution.

Actually, it was 2.4 seconds on slicks, 2.7 seconds on street tires. And the 2.4 second time was IN THE RAIN.

Now, who cares how much HP per liter you get? Does having high horse power per liter help you win races? Uh, no. Why? Because here's the fact of the matter. American cars tend to use larger displacement engines which give us more TORQUE, you know that ever so important force that helps accelerate? What's the easiest way to get more horsepower out of a smaller engine? By increasing the peek torque/RPM. In other words the peek torque is still very lacking it's just higher on the RPM band. Since when horse power is calculated the torque is multiplied by the RPMs, you have a high horse power engine with DICK for torque. American cars tend to use larger displacement engines because they give you more torque. More torque at a given RPM means more horse power at the same RPM.

Torque is a very, very important thing to have. There's an old saying, "horse power sells cars, but torque wins races." More often than not it's true. Now ask yourself, why is it that Honda people almost never talk about such an important factor such as torque? It's because Hondas don't have shxt for torque and never will unless they start using larger displacement engines (or forced air induction)

Ask yourself another thing. Would you rather brag about your horse power per liter to your friends, or brag to your friends about winning races at the track?

  12. i bet i could take your automatic vette out. Dont mess with supercharged SIs
    they are sleepers.

and it wasnt 2.7 on street tires, it was 3.6 seconds. I read it in motortrend

But you are right, it was 2.4 seconds on slicks, i was mistaken on that

  13. Cavalier is made by Chevy. Chevy does not own Toyota, nor vice versa. They just have relations, somewhat like DSM but on a lesser scale. And I read that, while close, Toyota has not yet surpassed Mopar in sales. So Toyota CAN'T be the 3rd largest auto manufacturer in the world. And I know that GM is #1 and FoMoCo is #2. <!-- Signature -->

  14. Z24 or Civic?¿

In my opinion Z24 Cavalier is a much better car what do you think?¿

  16. and Toyota is owned by Chevy, whats your point?

  17. id like to see some proof that toyota is owned by chevrolet. btw, toyota is the number one automobile company in japan. so, that would make chevrolet probably THE biggest car company in the world. if that is so, then how come they are making a minimal profit? they are a corporation in serious trouble my friend, and i believe that making crap up will not help neither you nor them.

  18. there's this thing in America we call the big 4, i.e. the big four auto manufacturers. GM, FoMoCo, Mopar, and I forget the last one.....conveniently....GM owns Chevy, pontiac, ect. ect. as if it were an empire. I heard that chevy got control of Toyota as of 2001. Why else would Toyota make Cavies?

I believe GM is the biggest car company in the world.

  19. there both slow so why bother.

  20. odin, shut up.

hey, will, you may have a point, but i think the reason that chevy isnt making any money is because they are so spread out. now that i think about it, i think you are right about that making them bigger. but that may not be the best thing for them. i mean, you got chevy, GMC, pontiac, geo(not anymore), saturn, oldsmobile (for a short time<IMG SRC="http://www.supercars.net/servlets/cMsg/html/emoticons/smile.gif">), cadillac, and probably some others. it makes sense that being too spread out is not good for a corporation. i dunno. look at honda (just an example). their cars are rather inexpensive, but they are making money up the wazoo. it may be because its so much easier to manage only having two makes. i dunno, but you may be right.

Yo, get ur info rite. Toyota is the third largest car manufacturer in the world while GM is first. And GM does not own Toyota ( although i would like Gm to own toyota.). Actually, Cavaliers are made by GM, it's just that it sells them to toyota becuz toyota sells too many cars and parts to GM, like the toyota corolla, it's called Chevy Prism for GM. And GM makes too many same cars, like the Camaro, and Firebird, Cavalier and sunfire, Venture and Montana, and many more. <!-- Signature -->
