I agree. He's not even done the season and he has already won, now thats great.

3. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

He’s the best driver of the modern era and was able to do a feat that everyone thought impossible. I love this guy.

4. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

I think he's the best driver ever, not just of the modern era. But that is just my opinion.

5. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

To me he's the best driver of all time. I said just the modern era to avoid unwanted commentaries and also avoid comparing the F1 of today with the F1 of 1958, because they’re incomparable.

6. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Very true.

7. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

His first title was cheap and unfair to Hill.

8. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

he is the best driver ever and he's gunna win next season too

9. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

so the FIA banning him for 2 races for a technical infringement was fair?

don't forget, the FIA was very anti-schumacher and pro-Hill in the early years, he overcame this and now it's almost reversed, the FIA and F1 needs Schumacher.

10. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Schumacher is the best just like Fanjio.

11. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Who's better, Schumacher or Senna

12. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

how much do these cars cost??

13. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Depends who you talk to. Personally I say Schu, he and Senna competed in 41 GP together and Schu beat him 21-20, this at a time when Senna was driving for McLaren and Williams and Schu was driving for Jordan and Benetton, So Senna had the car advantage, Senna was also a treble world champion at the height of his career, Schu was just a rookie, Senna should have thumped him, but didn't.

Schu is the only driver to take a mid-pack team and turn it into a champion team twice, firstly with Benetton and then with Ferrari, Senna jumped from Lotus when it became uncompetitive and then jumped from McLaren when they became uncompetitive. Schu stuck with Ferrari a long time before they became the #1 team.

But both drivers have their different strong points and their flaws, Senna was a better qualifier, but Schu is better in a race, Senna was the 'Rainmaster', but Schu beat him in the rain at Spa in '92 and since Senna's death has only been outperformed in the rain once (By Hakkinen at Hungary '98 I think)

Others will say that Senna drove aginst Prost, Piquet and Mansell, and Schu has only had to beat Hill, Villeneuve and Hakkinen, well that's true, but Schu was Piquet's team-mate and thumped him in qualifying, Hakkinnen sensationally out-qualified Senna in his firat ever drive as Senna's team-mate. And no matter who Senna drove against it still doesn't alter the results of the 41 GP he drove against Michael.

I don't think you'll ever get an answer.

14. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

i disagree with Reek. When Schumi came along, Senna was near the end of his career and losing motivation fast. Senna is and will remain the best driver.

15. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Senna was good, but Shumi was even better. A lot of people say that the difference is that Senna was amazing in the rain but isn't Shumi even better in the rain? If Senna was still alive and racing, I think Shumi would beat his ass.

16. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Senna was supremely motivated, his stated aim was to beat Fangio's record of 5 world titles.

17. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

I must agree with Reek. I didn’t like Senna very much, at that time I was Prost fan. Nonetheless he was a hell of a driver, but to me Schumacher his even better, and I think what he his achieving in Formula 1 his a proof of my claimings. I also agree with Reek that Senna was extremely motivated when Schumi came along.

18. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

What about Schumi or Prost, which of the two is better? Keep in mind that Prost raced with three different cars and still won championships.

19. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Schumi Vs. Prost? That’s a hard one, it’s more easy to compare Schumacher with Senna, since both pilots have a very aggressive driving style. With Prost, that’s different, he had a more cautious approach to a grand prix. But still I will vote on Schumacher.
What I think that makes Schumacher so formidable is that he his motivation in person. It’s very hard for a driver who achieved what he did, and even so be able to remain focused and motivated.

20. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Very tough, I still remain undecided, even after wasting countless hours pondering it.

For Schu : he took Benetton and Ferrari to championship glory when they were not the front runners, whereas Alain won most of his races driving for the best teams of the time (McLaren and Williams) I'm not sure where you get this 'third car' from? Prost also raced for Renault and Ferrari but did not win championships with them.

For Prost : Much higher calibre of Team-mates than Schu, Arnoux, Lauda, Senna, Mansell and Hill are among them, Schu's only really great team-mate was Piquet.

21. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

out of 41 GP's that both michael and senna competed in the score was

schumi senna

22. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Yep, and consider M$ was driving for Jordan and Benetton, While Ayrton was in a McLaren then a Williams!

Every time I tell casual observers that stat (21-20) they call me a liar!

23. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

hehe yea!

24. Re: Schumacher wins 5th world title

Most casual observer and specially Senna fans don't believe it. It's like saying to them that Senna was aggressive and some times he cause accidents, they quickly will deny it.

I have to say I wouldn't have believed it on the surface but when I think about it, I reckon its entirely possible.
