  1. Cuz quite frankly i don't know what to think?

  2. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

there was never a Boss 427, but there were 30 some 427's put into the GT500 in 67 (i think it was 67) anyways, they stopped putting it in there, because the car was too fast, and it could do 180+ without any trouble.

Id go 427 if thats what were comparing.

  3. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

Do you mean the 429 BOSS?

I'd take the Challenger 426 Hemi.

  4. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

yeah sorry i meant 429... (typo) hehe

  5. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

i think the hemi would be faster b/c i know in like 70 71 those ruled the roads

  6. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

Yeah the 426 Hemis and the GM 454's were the Kings...

  7. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

The boss would smoke on it.

  8. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

the hemi would win hands down.

  9. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

I'll take the stang. It looks better.Maybe the hemi got more power but i'll still take the boss

  10. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

close call, the 426 hemi is the most sought after engine by hot rodders.

  11. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

well in my opion they would both have the chance of beating each cause u just can't judge on what u have experienced or seen wit these cars cause the car doesn't its just the car it all depends who would be drivin it

  12. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

The Challenger with the Hemi would blow that Boss' doors off. Factory rating for 426 Hemi : 425; Boss 429 : 375. But in real life, the Hemi made a peak of over 550, whereas the Boss made nearly 500. Only a few musclecar engines could keep up with a Hemi, those being certain Chevy 427's and 454's, and slightly modded Mopar 440 Six Packs could hold their own. Hemi's where amazing.

  13. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

How can you say that the Hemi would be better. Both of these cars had hemis. By the way, the boss would crush the Dodge

you forget the Cammer, which owned every engien you mentioned. 658 hp is nothign to mess with <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  15. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

naw bro it was 67 and 68 but yes it was the GT500's and those things were nice.

You see the 427 in 67 in the GT500 has 425hp and 476torque
In 68 it had 400hp and 460 torque

The 0-60 time was 5.4 which is only 1/10th of a second faster than the latest Camaro SS but its 1/4 ET was 13.76 which was very nice for the time.

(Thats why the Mustang in "Gone in Sixty Seconds" was the 67 GT500 because no other GT500 or Mustang to that effect had that much HP or Torque before the Muscle car eura ended)

  16. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

This is extremely close and in any race would depend on the driver. But I believe that the Boss actually would win, the 70-71 Hemicuda/Challenger 426 were the quickest Ponycars and the 351 Boss was 6th but the 429 wasent considered a Ponycar by many, they both had Hemi's too, just to let you uneducated people who keep saying the Challenger cause it has a hemi. The Boss had a Hemi-headed Shotgun engine and they were built to homologate te engine for NASCAR competition, where it was installed in Torinos and Cyclones.

Equal drivers, the 429 would win.

  17. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

were can i find info and pictures on mustang 427 ?...and have you heard about the mustang v 10 ?

  18. Re:

As far as stock cars go the Hemi Cudas/Challengers were the fastest American cars on the road save maybe the 427 Corvettes (and the occasional Shelby Cobra of course). A Hemi ponycar would eat a Mustang Boss 429 for breakfast hands down, and even a 427 Shelby Mustang would struggle to keep up.

This coming from a Mustang fan/owner...

  19. Re: Re:

ok now the ford 427 was a killer motor espeacialy in a 1967 shelby cobra roadster the 427 could easily take a hemi and a 454 the 454's where big motors but the chevy ss 396 and 427 were way more powerful

  20. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

first of all let me inform all of you that it's sad how a 23 year old is able to know more about cars from a generation twice his age than the people who lived through it. the "ealanor" in gone in sixty seconds is not even a gt 500 clone, it is entirely fabricated from new parts and custom addons. don't ever insult shelby's by calling it a shelby. secondly, the boss 429 mustang was beaten on the quarter mile by only two stock vehicles in 1970, the chevelle SS 454, and the GTO judge 455 ram air IV. they only beat it by fractions of a second in the quarter mile none of them ran faster than a 13. they were all between 13.19 and 13.46. last but not least, no STOCK, I repeat, STOCK, shelby gt (350 or 500) ever ran faster than a 429, as a matter of fact, only the 68 gt500kr ever broke into the high 13s. so would you all shut up. the 429 and charger 426 hemi would run just about neck and neck. and, yes, they are BOTH hemis.

  21. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

There is much enthusiasm but too much grey info being thrown around as the gospel. From examining extensive research done by the best in the ford muscle car business, there is not a single documented 67-68 427 mustang other than the supersnake by carroll shelby. The engine code for a 427 was listed on the dealer order forms initially but not a single one has been found by Kevin Marti, including any shelbys other than the supersnake. There has been speculation of some GT500's with 427's but none has surfaced.
Another point I need to make being a true blue Ford man is that the Mopar would destroy the Boss 429. It is a well-known FACT that a 428 cobra jet mustang would smoke a boss 429. The first 279 Bosses were supposed to be the "bad-asses" because they had beefer rods etc... but these all of these vehicles intakes and heads had too much flow for the street, they had crappy runner velocity which negatively affected torque. All of the power was at high RPM. These engines have huge potential but need to be de-ported for street use.
I am not being boastful but I own both a 1967 GT 500 fully restored and I have just purchased a 1969 Boss 429 in need of restoration. I have owned a Boss 429 engine for the previous 2 years and have done extensive research in the ford exotic muscle car segment for the last 5 years. I have been into fords for the last 30 years, as my father worked for the blue oval for 35+ years. To get accurate information about the bosses and other fords, try the book by steven strange, the shelby world registary and several websites found by doing a google search on boss 429's.

  22. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

The Power of all those engines changes with everybody you talk to, now i'm not saying anyone is wrong or right but i saw a 428 cobra jet at the drag strip and personally it didn't seem all that great, it got whipped by alot of other 302's and some other regular done up engines. i think it all depends on the engine becuase every one is different (how it seats etc.)

    Secondly, you own a 67 gt 500, a Boss 429 Mustang and a Boss 429 Engine?
What are you a millionare? buddy i wish i was you.

  23. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

Boss vs. Challenger HEMI? Dude that is the formula for the HEMI to win. Also are you talking about the 429 boss. Cause this one here is a one off. They made like 4 and they were the only stock bosses. They fetch a pretty penny today. The coolest muscle car/mopar is the SUPERBIRD!

  24. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

AMEN TO THAT BRO! Its AMAZING how noone here but you and me know about the CAMMER. For all of you who want info on it look at my forum sig. But yeah, the CAMMER was UNDEFEATABLE. Imagine if they put that in a 67 mustang fastback...damn.

But the HEMI would beat this hands down. But the BOSS's big brother upstairs (the CAMMER) would show the HEMI who's boss. hehe. THe Chevy 454 was best in the El Camino/Chevelle in 1970 in the LS1 form. The Chevelle, however, was too heavy to really put its power to good use. The ONLY car/engine combo that was street legal that would be anythin with a HEMI would be a 1970 El Camino SS 454 LS1 with the best axle available. I say street legal because the CAMMER never was...but then again...it was the ost powerful engine of its time. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING came close to the CAMMER's power, street-legal or not, domestic or import without using forced induction. Imagine throwing a blower on the CAMMER.... That gives me the chills man.

  25. Re: Stock Mustang boss 427 vs. Challenger Hemi.... what u think?

In all actuality, the Hemi in the Challenger is a true Hemi. The Boss is known as the Semi-Hemi because it has more of a crescent-shaped combustion chamber. The Hemi is more efficient at burning fuel, so I'd have to go with it.
