The Best "Ferrari Killer" Ever!

Discussion in '1980 BMW M1' started by ISEC04, Aug 9, 2002.

  1. This car was the first on BMW's long line of "M" cars. This was the car that all other companies looked up to for inspiration (MB, Audi, Maserati & many others). This is the second best BMW! (yet), only to the new 2003 760Li. BMW knows how to make a car the right way!<!-- Signature -->

  2. Re: The Best

bmw does have a way of setting trends<!-- Signature -->

  3. Re: The Best

This BMW had the body built by Lamborghini. It wasnt really the first M car the 2002 turbo started that. The M1, like the 507, is a rare breed but it can certainly show anyone that BMW arent "yuppes".

This car was one of the first supercars, it truly is the best. you will never see one of these driving around one 457 made! but 0-60 in 5.4 in 1978, wow. thats pretty damn good<!-- Signature -->

  5. Re: The Best

Well that's for sure and it aprooves as with many examples.Take for example the 5-seires whenever there was a new model all the magazines and people said that it's the best car of the world and mostly the last model of the 5-seires.

  6. Re: The Best

it's ok, but the BMW trademark intake ruins it<!-- Signature -->

  7. Re: The Best

It's the best sportscar of it's time, that's it. And it eats ferraris of that time for breakfast.

  8. Re: The Best

What #$%# you no it doesn't!
Here are the stats of a 1976(Even older than this)Ferrari 512BB
0-60 in 5.5 sec and a top speed of 188mph,whereas this does 0-60 in 6.1 sec and a top speed of only 161mph,lol

    Oh and the 1984 Ferrari 288GTO,would destroy this(even more),0-60 in 5.0 sec
and 190mph top speed,so you see next time don't talk out of your ass
and say some thing stupid like this is a "Ferrari~Killer" IDiot!

For the record I like this Bimmer too,the only bimmer I like, but it's not even a match for Ferrari let alone a so called"killer"lol

The BMW M1 is not the best "Ferrari killer" of all time That title belongs to the perhaps the greatest race car of the 1960s, the Ford GT40.

  10. Re: The Best

Don't watch only the performances of a car.Because if we go like this then and the McLaren F1 beats a lot the Ferrari Enzo, eventhough in reality it would get beaten by the Ferrari Enzo in a race track. The 250 GTO didn't have so good aerodynamics as the M1.If you compare in race track these two cars the M1 would be the winner because also it had better handlings, suspension, gearbox, faster stiring wheel and lot's of other things better than the 250GTO.This car when it was brought by BMW it had very high technology, better than the most Ferrari's.That'why it would win the race.Don't watch only the performances of car watch also other things.

  11. Re: The Best

this is a really good car but would u take it over a new GT40

  12. No cars are ferrari-killers, BMW M1 is good, but far from ferraris.old(and i mean OLD!) P4 is so much better with 330km/h. Thats as much as the NEW Ford GT!

  13. Awesome car-no doubt about it!
