you have got to be kidding me. It is certain that the mclaren is no where near as good as the Bugatti in nearly every way possible. It looks better. It has a better transmission. You can handle it. The only part i don't like about it is that it doesn't scare you to death when you are driving it around a track.
"It is fair to say, however, that the Veyron was never going to struggle in a straight line, not with a thousand or more horses under rein. What was of at least as much interest to us was how this heifer behaved once we left the Autostrada and headed for the hills. And here another fundamental difference between it and the likes of the Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT emerges. You may be disappointed to hear it but, by ultimate standards, the Veyron is not agile; no car of this weight ever could be. It lacks the interaction and feel of a lightweight road racer and feels much more like a feral Mercedes SLR. To be fair, it disguises its weight as much as a two-ton car ever could, but the simple truth is that if you're looking for a car that behaves as if it were born for the race track, you should buy yourself a racing car." >>> http://www.mph-online.com/mag/features/0052 Best argument to get the Dauer 962 LM instead!
Im mean it doesn't look like shit. But it's just not my favorite design. Nevertheless it's an amazing car.
ok, it's nothing special as a design. all racing cars at that time (and now) looked alike more or less... but 720bhp, twinturbo, 2.8sec 0-100 !!! and the mclaren holds the record for the fastest production car. the dauer is NOT a production car. it is built from existing 962 chassis who don't compete any more. then mr. dauer (ex-porsche driver), takes it and builts it from scratch for street use. amazing car. bottom line is, how many original racecars do you see in the streets?
Guys guys guys, it's not made from the ground up! If you read, it is a converted 962 with reworked bodywork. Sheesh, this Dauer is making me dizzy. There's too many flames here on this car. 1. The mclaren is a legend and the effort spent is to be noted AND respected 2. the bugatti veyron, despite its initial problems, is successful as being a technological tour-d'-force for bugatti if nothing else. 3. The Dauer 962 LM is a wonderful wonderful car that is not only fast but beautiful. My only regret is that they had to use one of the racing 962s to build it. (I would have kept the 962 and replicated it, THEN use the bodywork, and put in the road condiments)
The Dauer 962 was never the fastest car either, not even fastest road car, the Callaway corvette sledgehammer recorded a top speed officially of 254.76mph in 1988, 3.3mph faster than the Dauer962, if you really want a fast car though, check out the Walley Larson LE-1 Groundfighter, not sure if it is road legal though, 2000bhp, 306mph!!!
no, the fastest car is Thrust SSC...there were more of those made than Sledgehammers <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?displayFAQ=y"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/wink.gif"></A> NEVER rely on this site for accurate stats.
true! we all know that the veyron is a piece of unsafe crap. i saw the most recent world book of records and the bugatti didnt say that it achived 253 mph!... it weighs almost 4000 lbs. with 4 quad turbos 16 cylinder engine its HEAVY! and if it tries to go faster than 189 mph it will nearly kill the driver and never achived 253 mph!
Right u lot, get ur facts right, the worlds fastest car goes 763 MPH n only along bonneville. The worlds fastest PRODUCTION car goes 253 MPH and that IS the bugatti veyron so all kindly STFU
It seems to me that there are only a few people posting that are informed about the topic. Bugatti may be heavy, however approx 1000bhp can easily enable the bugatti to reach 250 mph. Torque of 922lb ft (nearly twice as much as mclaren) is the most impressive and relevant figure in this conversation, coupled with the a drag coeff of 0.36 (mclaren 0.32) I have no doubts over the preformance of this car. Please can people think carfully before posting such stupid unfoundered coments! An Engineering Grad

why dont u STFU! because its true there is a magazine saying that its was too dangerous and the highest it can go safely is 189 mph! the fastest car ever is the Thurst SSC which can go 768 mph
