Sorry to burst your bubble people! But the Lotus Esprit V8 and the Acura NSX costs roughly the same. The a full spec NSX costs $91,618.30 practically the same with the Esprit's cost which is $91,000. But of course, we all know the Esprit is better and more exotic!

The Esprit deserves the nod. Class, style, status of full exotic. Not an exotic wanna-be, AKA NSX. Your grandmother can drive the NSX fast. It takes a real driver to manage the mighty Lotus.

"hehe" dont have a clue to what they talkin about...the esprit design came around long before the lamborghini diablo, even the countache (of course the murcielago), back when lambo was makin trucks in the 70's. ignorance speaks too often.

Im sorry there bud, Lotus made this design SO SO SO SO long ago, they were the creators, a NSX over this? its too bad i already made my decision and got me one of these, hot shit man, and u can work on this car with w/e ya want! so yea, get this then add some more money into it and will kill any car.

6. Re: This or an NSX

I feel i am qualified to comment on this. Ive driven an NSX and was taken out in a friend's lotus esprit Sport 350 (the track ready version). The NSX was alot of fun to drive, its steering was perfectly weighted, it wasnt even power asisted. It was light, responsive and fun. The car had a Tubi exhaust (about $1500) so it sounded nice. It just had no power. It wsant that slow, but it just didnt have and torque. The Lotus on the other hand is freaking amazing. This model, since it was a sport 350, had a carbon fiber wing, magnesium wheels, AP racing brakes, and was lightened. It even had carbon fiber trim in the interior, which looked nice. Let me tell you that the gas pedal is like the detonator for a bomb. When you push it the car rockets. When my friend floored it i was pushed into the back of the seat so hard. I looked at the speedo expecting it to say about 45, it said 80.
Both cars are dated, but the lotus's design is from the 70's. It really is starting to show its age, but its still an impressive car to say the least. The NSX has honda reliability, which is a plus, but it lacks the passion that the lotus has (if you want passion go with a FERRARI ) Honda has racing heritage, only it doenst go that far back. Also the lotus isnt that unreliable. GM, who took ownership of lotus in the early 90's (i think), did a good job of making them reliable. Unfortunately they put in that ugly gm parts bin airbag steering wheel. Also how often do you see a lotus on the road? For me it was twice in my life. I see NSX's all the time, along with ferraris, porsche turbos, corvettes, even Z8's are borng now. Suprisingly i dont see too many vipers (a few times a month)
Racer V- Also, getting 900hp out of them is not a good idea. The lotus i was in is getting some work to put it at 450hp, its also getting a 6spd tranny. There are currently no aftermarket halfshafts for these cars. Those are the weak link. They cant take much more than 500hp. Im sure theres racing halfshafts for them though.
If anyone has any questions or wants pics, let me know. I'll post a few pics now. sorry for the long post, i just feel that im knowledgeable in the area. If anyone is in the NY area and wants to checl these cars out let me know.

The first two are of the NSX. (Damn, who's nice Audi is that behind the NSX? its mine.

The third is of the Lotus Esprit Sport 350
The fourth is of the NSX, Lotus, and a Testarossa. all cars are owned by the same guy (hes the man)

Here are some more Lotus pics for everyone who loves the Esprit!
The first is of the Lotus interior. Thats an aftermarket steering wheel, the stock one is a GM airbag steering wheel, its hideous. These interiors are really nice, they got updated in 98 i think.

The second is of the front of the lotus.
The third is of the Sport 350 carbon fiber wing.
The last is of the rear of the Lotus
If you want to see more let me know.

9. Re: This or an NSX

I think it was either MT, C&D or R&T that did handling tests. According to them the Ferrari 360 Modena beat out the Porsche 911 and, well, every other car in the competition.

Personally I would take the NSX over this, I just prefer the NSX. Honda started making it when they were doing good in Formula One with McLaren, and I have heard or read such things as "Handles good, but it's no NSX." Whatever. The Lotus is still amazing, no doubt.

10. Re: This or an NSX

I would go for the NSX Type R

I consider timn88 lucky to be able to take a ride in both of those cars. And the story sounds very believable. I whould prefer tne NSX though. preticularly the Hondas NSX type S or R. They run twelves in a 1/4, there are videos all over the internet. the trick is that they are not available in the U.S. I do not think that the the lotus handles better either. The NSX is known to be one the best handling cars in the world and thats with the pathetic rims and tires that it has. Plus the NSX has the reliability and I think it looks way better. if u have enought money for either of the cars, I don't think 10 grand makes much difference. You can also get an NSX thats a year or two old (must be 99 model or over as they have slightly bigger engines and a carbon graphite reinforced engine blocks)and with the money you save u can add twin turbo to that, and then u can say hello to 11 sec 1/4 miles easily.
