and if it keeps it's gearbox from falling apart. (the enzo, not viper)

  2. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

it has in the past. it's why it couldn't participate in le-mans too heavily in the early 90s. the Lambos also had gearbox problems early on, which i think that now they have resolved...maybe.

  3. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

yet another reason y the Enzo ain't worth $2,000,000!

  4. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

i think the price for the Enzo is $500,000

  5. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

hmn from what i can think of offhand, the gearbox problem could be solved by using a stiffer clutch plate but it would cause the driver to have a very sore left leg after the day is over.. gearbox probably just wasnt mounted properly to handle the torque (twisting force) of the flywheel, so it worked the bolts loose.. weld the bastard on and u wont have any problems for a while <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

the venom is nice but its apparent that they havnt had much experience in working with a turbo'd car, the cooling for the turbo isnt nearly good enough, and the engine compression is too high in my opinion, i dont see anything about ignition in the upgrade, so im assuming that its running on stock ignition so they would suffer pre-detonation.. im sure that given a venom 800, i could make it a much more efficiant car on the strip and track.. the suspension needs some work, a good traction control system would be a big benifit. it has more than enough power, and probably doesnt use much of it till higher up the speedband, how much power could you put to the wheels on a launch without breaking something? ive seen a 523 hp viper get serious chassis twist on a full rev launch, inexperienced driver and the tires were gripping like mad (hot day, did a burnout in a puddle of bleach) the venom has potential but they should leave the engine alone for a bit and work on the handling.

    $2,000,000 Australian.

  7. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

    Work on the handling? <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/confused.gif"></A>

    They have:
    Slotted 13-in. rotors
    Wilwood six-piston calipers
    adjustable Penske coil-over shocks
    Eibach springs
    --------------------------

    Skidpad: 1.06g
    Braking, 60-0 mph: 110 ft
    Slalom Speed: 75.1 mph

  8. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

"(although u know its gotta be the Enzo) "

i don't know which one would have better handling. on one hand you have a Ferrari (known for great handling), and the other a viper with an upgraded aftermarket suspention.

    BTW, i'd rather have a sports car than a huge house. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

  9. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

The Viper has NEVER won Lemans. It has some class wins, but never an overall win.

The Viper won't match the lap times of the Enzo. 1.06g on the skidpad can't make up for F1 technology and lighter weight. Sorry.

  10. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

The viper HAS won in its class (that's what i meant by it winning Lemans)

    (from fast-autos.net)
    Ferrari 550M:
    0-60 mph: 4.2 sec
    0-100 mph: 9.8 sec
    Quarter Mile: 12.7 sec @ 115 mph
    Skidpad: .94g
    Top Speed: 199 mph
    Braking, 60-0 mph: 128 ft
    Slalom Speed: 65.2 mph

    Viper GTS:
    0-60 mph: 4.0 sec
    0-100 mph: 9.6 sec
    Quarter Mile: 12.0 sec @ 122 mph
    Skidpad: 1.01g
    Top Speed: 192 mph
    Braking, 60-0 mph: 122 ft
    Slalom Speed: 72.4 mph

Here, a viper beats Ferraris F1 technology.

  11. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

It was all in the driving. And track conditions, it could have been the European Viper also. Im not sure though...

  13. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

    HA HA HA HA!!!

  14. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

You think the 550 Maranello encorporates any where near the amount of technology and race bred features as the Enzo? It weighs almost 4000 lbs, how the hell does that justify the 800tt being faster around a track than the Enzo? It isn't, just accept it.

On the Drag strip - 800tt
    Track - Enzo

Please don't repeat to me skidpad numbers and slalom speeds, I've seen them all before. The 800tt is barely faster than a stock Viper around a track without many straights, and even a few straights won't make up for it weighing about 500lbs more than the Enzo and producing much less downforce (despite the Body Work).

((BTW the Viper that ran the 8:22 around Nurburgring was a UK spec Viper, which has only 400hp and no ABS. A US spec GTS ACR should run a similar time to the 550 Maranello and Modena.))

"The 800tt is barely faster than a stock Viper around a track "

if you're getting that from C&D supercar comparison, keep in mind all the cars did less than thier full potential due to the bad weather conditions the comparison was done in.

  16. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

The weather is almost irrelevant, seeing the stock Viper was run the day after the 800tt, where they didn't have perfect weather either. Even if you added another second or two to take weather discrepensies into account it wouldn't change much. The Enzo would still run faster lap times, but one would expect as much from a $600,000 exotic.

Yeah, and the new SRT-10 should be faster than both (Maranello and Modena) around nurburgring, I wish Dodge would bring one out to see what they can do. Thing is, Dodge wouldn't be able to cost-justify the decision, because not enough people in America are interested in Nurburgring lap times.

  17. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

    Ha ha!

  18. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

honestly, i have no clue. i dont know much about the ferrari enzo and how good it handles, but im pretty sure the 800TT would beat it on teh drag strip.

  19. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

    prolly.

  20. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

The Ferrari Enzo is overrated. The Viper in my opinion is a much better car. You say that the only place to test real performance is on the track? Well why do you ***** about 0-60 statistics and top speeds all the time?

  21. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

I don't think Deug bitches about top speed and 0-60, and I also don't think the Enzo is over rated

  22. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

i dunno, i think that the Enzo is kinda overrated considering it has so much hype around it but i think many people will be dissapointed.

  23. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

Well, I guess it depends on what you expect from the Enzo. If you expect it to be faster than the f50 in nearly every way, than no you won't be disappointed. If you expect it to rival formula 1 cars because Ferrari used their "experience in F1", than yeah you're going to be very disappointed. I think it will be able to post some impressive times, and does have both very impressive acceleration and braking.

  24. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

    I think i should just post these again. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

    ferrari enzo: (estimated times)
    0-60 mph: 3.6 sec
    0-100 mph: 6.3 sec
    Quarter Mile: 11.0 sec
    Top Speed: 217 mph

These are what you should probably expect (give or mostly take .3-.5 seconds), most estimated times are close to what the car will perform (take the SRT-10 for example)

  25. Re: This vs Ferrari Enzo

I was thinking more around a track though, as that's what the Enzo's about. Can't wait until we see a full road test on it.
