I think the silver R8s look quite ugly. The best colour I've seen an R8 in, in person, is light blue.

    :edit: Nice Murcie shots!
  6. What Did You See Today? (Part IV)

yep, the light blue with the carbon fiber sideblade is the best.

The blasted pictures won't upload, but I saw a white Zonda F in a showroom in London while walking down Park Lane the other week. It was my first Zonda; stunning car. In addition, I saw numerous exotics over the week on the streets including an orange LP640 Roadster, several Maranellos, two black F430 Spiders, a red F430 coupe, a silver 360 Spider, a two-tone black and red 612 Scaglietti, a black Gallardo, a Phantom DHC, a Vanquish S, two TVRs, a Maser 3200GT (my first since they didn't send them to USA), a gorgeous white 997 GT3, several 997 and 996 Turbos, and loads of Arnages, Continentals, Phantoms, AMV8s, etc.

I have'nt seen one for 4 years, I really hope I get to see one this summer, also want to see a Veyron.

It's pretty unlikely you're going to see a Zonda unless it's at some special event (hell, AKL, that was exceptional good luck to spot the one in the showroom). 70-odd cars out of the many million on the planet is not exactly a significant percentage...

Anyway, less unlikely than last time given that I think it's actually on sale now, but no less bizarre, I saw THREE Jag XFs in ten minutes on the motorway today - one an extremely nice light-blue, one copper, one silver. Presumably it must have been a set testdrive route. The silver one was on my side of the carriageway, so I got to have a good look at it in motion from all sides as I overtook it (well, except the left).

Seeing it in motion does the car a lot of favours because you can't see the nasty alloys properly, and it's actually a seriously attractive car. The proportions of the rear detailing are just right, and the delicate overarch of the smaller bit of the rear light cluster makes an excellent contrast with the monolithic slabs of the side of the car. I know a lot of people don't like the 'gill' near the front of the more recent Jags, but personally I think it adds a similarly characterful touch to Maserati's three-hole gimmick. It has an interesting effect on the aforementioned slab-sides of the XF, too. What you really don't see in the pictures is that the XF's headlight cluster is actually quite eye-catching and boldly detailed. I thought it was awful in the pictures, I now have a completely opposing opinion. Also, the nose grill looks to be very high-quality, and allows you to easily identify the car from a great distance - the quality of the mesh means it actually looks nothing like a Hyundai in person. My main criticism, apart from the alloys, is that it really should have had a stronger shoulderline.

Is it attractive enough to draw any attention from non-enthusiasts? No. It's like the new Mondeo in that respect - very good-looking for a saloon, but at the end of the day it's still just a saloon.

Also drove past a new M3, DBS (didn't get a good look), Noble, Fiat 500, a beautiful bright blue stripeless Ford GT, R8, an odd bone-coloured 997 GT3, a heavily modified classic Mustang, a Gallardo (first on the road in about eight months for me, an orange coupe), two Bowlers (seriously! They were caining the living hell out of them on an extremely wet little road in Wales), and that weird V-shaped bike-car thing they had on Top Gear a few years ago.
