  1. I need a new xp compatible word processing program. I'd get microsoft word, but i heard you can only use it on one computer due to activation. Thats really lame because i have a laptop and a home computer. I want a program i can install on both. Got any ideas?

  2. OpenOffice.org

Not as good as Word (the one truely great MS piece of software) but it's free and good enough for most purposes...

  4. Thanks. I'll check it out.

does anyone know if theres a version of microsoft word that works on more than one computer.

  5. Your computer didn't ship with Word?

  6. The older versions of Word don't require web activation.

But OpenOffice is fine, getting better with every release.
The commercial (non-free version) is called StarOffice, it's a little bit more 'rounded' and has some thing that are missing from OpenOffice like a commercial spellchecker and thesaurus but it is a damn good application.
